I don't understand the purpose of having the competitors to shoot a firearm without knowing where the sights are adjusted and then only giving each competitor one shot. To me, this involves an element of luck. They could eliminate the element of luck by allowing the competitors to fire the firearm prior to the competition to gain an understanding of where the firearm will impact. Then their hits or misses are directly attributable to skill not luck, and they could do this without disclosing the nature of the event.

It actually removes all luck by not being able to adjust the sights...they are already adjusted. Everyone shoots to the same sight adjustment and the best pure technique will place the shot the closest to the bull. It is like folks shooting a new handgun, who are shooting low left, wanting to adjust the sights...if your technique is good, you wouldn't have that issue

That final elimination course of fire was wicked, all those plates running different speeds and then falling off at different distance!! my head would be spinning. anybody have a yard big enough for us to try that!

Oh, and don't feel bad TNP'r, she didn't look Filipino to me either, and I have a Filipino aunt and had a Filipino room mate for 6 years. Maybe it's the AK.

She looks more Filipino on her FaceBook page and much cuter too...especially in her shooting outfit. When she speaks, she is obviously Filipino...from TX

The producers wanted her to project the look you are picking up...obviously successfully...and it ties into her tag line, "Who doesn't want to see a small Asian chick kick butt"

The Sharps challenge was a kick in the nuts. We didn't expect that AT ALL! It was really a smooth gun to shoot, and I really liked it. I wouldn't mind having one, except that the .45-70 ammo would bankrupt me.

Anyway . . . they only gave us instruction on how to operate the rifle. I.e. how to load it, and how the set triggers work. We received no sight-in information. We were only told that an "expert" had verified that the rifle was on target. Beyond that - if you were farther down the line in the shooting order, you got to see where everybody else was hitting (but you didn't know how they were holding), and you could choose to adjust your shot based on that - or not.

I shot in that Low/Right dog pile with most everyone else. Jay pulled off THE ONLY bullseye!

...but in all honesty - I did not want to be the one with the responsibility of picking a team.

An "expert" verified beforehand the point-of-aim to point-of-impact for all the contestants huh...

Doesn't a rifle recoil differently based on the shooter's right/left handedness, style of hold, body geometry, etc. and as a result of the varying recoil behavior, doesn't the POI change from shooter-to-shooter even if they take the same sight picture?

Plus, by 1/2 way through, you could see a grouping developing low and right. I was thinking that I would be aiming 6-12" @ 10:30. If I was off, it wouldn't be any more off than those who missed low right.

Curious if this crossed the mind of any of the actual shooters?

...Exactly - but that's what they wanted. They wanted that SHOCK VALUE of us having to step up *RIGHT NOW* with *NO PRACTICE* with an unfamiliar firearm, and shoot cold (literally and figuratively) and perform in front of each other. This was the first time that we were allowed to even talk to each other, and now we're all there for the first time being critiqued and judged by each other. They did not manufacture "drama", but they did a great job at creating stress-inducing situations.

If I recall correctly - I aimed about 10" above the target at about the 11 o'clock position, and my shot hit at 5 o'clock, 18" from center.

if the rest of the season has as much shooting and as little bs as the first episode, it should make for good watching

I seem to remember a lot of shooting and little drama in that one too.

Don't forget, last night they had 3 shooting events, and the training segment was cut very short compared to normal.

I don't know if the studios own a bunch of land up there, or if a rancher that isn't ranching anymore is making the studios good lease deals, but "Wipe Out" is shot in the same general area as well as a number of other shows.
