BSP isn't the closest Black Rifle/OLL friendly FFL to me. I have other FFL options like: Cold War Shooters, Ammo Bros, several Turner's, Bass Pro, etc.. to pick from.
I try to support all the good FFLs local to me (spread my transfers around), but BSP have been my "Go To" FFL for all my recent transfers.
I've done a lot of transfers (PTP and Out of State) through BSP, all have gone super smooth. Chris & Dan and the other staff members have all been very knowledgeable and very accommodating. They have done out of State transfers that other local FFLs would not touch.
Sorry to hear the OP had issues with his property, but it isn't what I've experienced at BSP over the years dealing with them.
You guys speaking of Boycotting them are jumping the gun and are over re-acting on a "Good" FFL that is very CalGuns member friendly. You can do what you want. But I will still spend my $$ at BSP. BSP are a stand up FFL and I will continue to patronize their establishment.
They regularly stock all kinds of AR/AK/SKS/HK Clones/ UZIs/ Thompsons/ AR & AK stripped receivers, etc..
I had reservations with dealing with a 'Pawn Shop' the first time I did a PTP there. But, I don't even think of them as a Pawn shop anymore. They are just the friendly & knowledgable "Gun Shop" to me now. They have lower fees than other local FFLs and are very accommodating to the unique firearm types (CA legal configured) that I purchase from out of this state.
I have three unique pending out of state transfers at BSP as we speak, types you will not see at CA FFLs carrying OLL/AR/AK. Just waiting for #2 & #3 to arrive at the FFL for pickup on the same DROS.Comment

Could someone just edit a post in the FIRST page saying bright spot????????
Seriously.... gotta dig through 5 pages of drama to finally find out who the offending FFL is.....
I was VERY concerned about my new sig I pick up tomorrow that it *might* be *that supersecret squirrel* FFl.....
I went to BSP once to check it out.
I have to admit they were one of the few around that risked dealing in black rifles when no one else would. I give them credit for that.
However this BS scenario shows me I'm glad I went to "Riverside Gun Co" and support the new guy in town for my latest purchase. Randy seems like a good guy to deal with.
I pick up my new stainless sig 1911 target TOMORROW!!!!!! WHOOOOOO!!!!!!!!Comment

When I go Bright Spot tomorrow to start the dros on my cz I will mention this thread to them. Hopefully they will come on here and post their side of the story. As for me my experience with them has been nothing but positive so I will continue to use them for transfers and as a receiving FFL. MarkComment

First off I would like to say I'm glad the original poster finally got his gun back.
I just got back from starting a dros at Bright Spot. I did mention this thread to Dan and he was aware of it but he said he won't coming on here to post at this time. I personally wasn't involved with this transaction so I'm in no position to pick sides. I didn't ask for details but what I gathered is there is two sides to this story. As for using Bright Spot my dros was quick and easy and I will continue to use them. MarkComment

Probably because people on CG immediately went into "torches and pitchfork" mode and were ready to tar and feather Bright Spot based on info provided by someone who didn't have cash in hand before shipping his gun.
Dan is probably not going to volunteer any info because the OP threatened legal action, so based on advise of legal counsel, he's not going to comment. Based on the treatment he got from CalGuns members, I don't blame him.
I will continue to do business with Bright Spot, based on several years of positive experiences with them. Their customer service is top notch in my opinion.LASD Retired

Ron,
I agree that both sides of the story should be heard. As a non participant, I still don't understand why this was not handled after the first phone call. Like this: Oh, your the legal owner of this weapon. Send me the money to ship, and I will take care of it. money sent and received firearm shipped...end of saga for all parties involved.
Makes no sense the delay, don't you agree?Comment

Knowing Dan, the money to ship was the least of his concerns. He legally can NOT ship it directly to the owner, and there are certain things required before he can ship it directly to another FFL. I have not spoken to Dan about it, so I don't know his side of it. The OP made several comments that make me believe he did not understand the hoops he (OP) had to jump thru before the gun could be shipped to the receiving FFL.Ron,

This is kind of the gist I got from speaking to Dan. He also mentioned the gun showed up without a copy of the sellers ID to do a transfer with. Dan said the seller then faxed a crappy copy of their ID. As for all the long delay shipping it back to another FFL he also said he had wait on a cflc number. Also he mentioned legal council told him not come on the forum at this time. But as said before I wasn't there when this all transpired so I don't like quoting(or misquoting) people.Knowing Dan, the money to ship was the least of his concerns. Now about the seller said he was told the gun had been shipped back to his FFL even though it hadn't. Maybe this true I don't know.
As for Bright Spot I'm not sure but I really don't think they made a dime on this for all this hassle. The pistol was shipped to them and then the transfer falls through then the seller maybe needs to step up and make sure all the proper arrangements are made and not just put it on Bright Spot. Maybe he did and maybe he didn't. I'm just glad it all got worked out in the end. MarkComment

Not coming on to tell their side of the story sounds like "no contest" to me. And legal counsel saying not to talk about this with us makes it seem they could be at some legal risk if their side was known. I'm sure this thread has cost them business. If the OP really just blew this out of proportion then I truely feel bad for them, but it doesn't smell like it to me.This is kind of the gist I got from speaking to Dan. If I were them I'd let the fact lay as they are. Have you read the op's posts? Not coming on to tell their side of the story sounds like "no contest" to me. And legal counsel saying not to talk about this with us makes it seem they could be at some legal risk if their side was known. I'm sure this thread has cost them business. If the OP really just blew this out of proportion then I truely feel bad for them, but it doesn't smell like it to me.
Here's what I see:
The OP clearly does not understand the complexity of the situation, why the gun can't just be shipped to him directly and what steps need to be taken to get his property back. He stated in his 1st post that he didn't think it was his responsibility to he the SF FFL's info to Riverside because "he's not an FFL".
The OP was unable to get the situation resolved for 2+ months. Oceanbob steps in, makes a couple of phone calls and follows up, situation is resolved in a matter of days.
Oceanbob then posts that his feeling was that this was a 1 in 500 anomaly and that he feels that bright spot is a good company.
Multiple other posters then feel the need to post about their overwhelmingly good experiences with Bright spot.
Based on the above information, I would be more likely to deal with this Bright Spot, not less. BTW, I'm in no way affiliated with them and have never done business with them. I just think these internet lynch mobs that form when no one knows the players or the real story are ridiculous.
On a more positive note, I have done business with City Arms, and they are indeed awesome. Two thumbs up for them!LET'S GO SHARKS!
LET'S GO GIANTS!

Just picked up an internet transfer from BSP 2 weeks ago. Hadn't used them in 2 years. I was in and out faster than I budgeted. That was nice.
When I picked up the gun I asked about fee schedules for family transfers. They pointed me in the direction that took away their profit but was better for me. They repeated themselves THREE TIMES! I left smiling.
I can imagine many a scenarios in my head as to why it took 3 months (right or wrong). But it would all be speculation. Just like reasons posted here without hearing the "third side" of the story.
OP- (and OSB!) Congrats!
JustinFor any questions contact me by email.
Thanks,
Justin
