I carried a knife when I lived in CA. Now that I can CCW a gun without a permit (though i have one) I still go back to the knife most of the time. I like knives because they don't need reloading, don't hit unintended targets, and they feel more useful in close situations. That's just my opinion though. I carry a Kershaw assisted opener from Walmart.

only takes me about a half second to load
Most assailants attack using the element of surprise, you will not have the opportunity to load. If confronted directly it will be obvious what you are doing drawing and loading a weapon when their weapon is already out.

I agree, knives do require SOME skill but I think that coupled with some self-defense classes (or better yet Kung Fu for a few years with knives and sticks training) you would be prepared for many situations.

After watching Suzanna Gratia-Hupp's testimony in front of the Texas house of representatives about her parents being murdered right in front of her because she had left her own gun in the car because of Texas CCW laws at the time, I would never ever consider not carrying concealed. I don't care if I go to prison for the rest of my life. I will not allow my family to be murdered in front of me while I sit there and do nothing because some CA law makers say I can't CCW.

2-3 years probation versus being murdered or having your loved ones murdered? You have to ne kidding me. Sheeple mindset at its best

I don't give a flying f*** what CA says is illegal, I have a right to keep and bear arms and I WILL exercise that right.

I understand what you are saying, because I once felt the same, here's the problem though: you get busted, you lose your guns. Then what? You can't carry any weapons of any kind because it will be a violation of your probation, if you have a gun you would have had to obtain it illegally, and yeah so you end up in prison.

With a bunch of very dangerous people who will mess you up pretty bad. No thanks.

Not to mention in the scenario in your OP, you'd also have the "posession on school/college property" charge to deal with if you got caught.

Yeah, wasn't even thinking about that one...even if it's private property?

I don't think we feel the same at all, this is not something I take lightly. If I got caught for some odd reason the cops might get a few of my guns but they would never be able to locate all of them. As soon as I got out from the station after arrest I would immediately locate one of my remaining handguns, load it up and strap it on, not even a single thought about not doing it, as I said I'm my first post, I don't give a flying f*** what CA or any other government organization says is illegal, my families lives are worth more to me than any amount of time in prison or my own life. I am their protector and it is the main focus of my life to keep them safe and happy. If they were murdered in front of me and I wasnt able to save them because I was unarmed, I would kill myself.

Wow, those are some pretty serious words. Makes me wonder what makes some of us think so strongly about certain issues and others not.

If it's a private college then it might be different....would hafta go back and double check the PC on that one.

Bare mimimum you'd prolly get expelled from school cuz it's prolly against school policy which could create it's own issues down the road aside from the legal ones.

It's a tough call though....if one truly feels the need to protect themselves. one with no easy answer.
