Well, as a liberal and gun owner itis disappointing the see such willingness to lump everyone toegther and call them stupid, mindless, etc. That doesn't help our cause at all.

In twenty years of praciticing law and making arguments I have learned one immutable truth - it is damned tough to convince someone to consider your arguments when you start the conversation by calling them close minded and stupid.

Don't make that judgment based solely on what you read on Calguns. Go read the threads at http://www.huffingtonpost.com/ and you might come to a different conclusion about which side is more close minded and intolerant of opposing viewpoints. There is little love lost on either side of the fence.
      Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

And you can go on any number of conservative opinion sites and find the same thing. Redstate comes to mind as being far more extreme then HuffPo.

At the end of the day though - both are editorial sites, and are essentially meaningless. They speak to their base of supporters. Just like Faux Noise or some of the idiots on MSNBC.

Compassionate? Diverse? Tolerant? Logical? Informed? Passive? Kindhearted? Charitable? Sophisticated? Open-minded? Unprejudiced? Peaceful?

These are just a handful of the attributes most liberals claim to posses, yet few to none ever exhibit. If I had to choose just one adjective to best describe a liberal, it would be "hypocritical".

"a person who pretends to have virtues, moral or religious beliefs, principles, etc., that he or she does not actually possess, esp. a person whose actions belie his or her stated beliefs."

Typically speaking, liberals are the most intolerant, close-minded, uninformed, illogical, prejudiced, stereotypical group of unsophisticated, mean-spirited people you will ever encounter.

Liberals and conservatives should just keep on fighting. It keeps giving us libertarians the fuel we need to take back our country from you Tweedledees and Tweedledums.

You guys should fight over who gets to be Tweedledee and who has to be Tweedledum.

Yeah, ummm, pretty offensive there, sir..... and I'm not easily offended. I'm PROUDLY conservative, and I very much want my country back from the liberal progressive kook fringe that has hijacked it. Its not the true conservatives you libertarians need to worry about, because we're on the same team. As a true libertarian, you should already know that. Terrible shame that you don't seem to, but instead would rather lump us Constitution-loving conservatives into the same glop of anti-American crap liberals wallow in. Shame indeed.

Erik, the problem I have with the ongoing never ending fight between liberals and conservatives in this country is the fact that it gets us nowhere. It's a huge distraction from addressing the real problems we face. This thread, amongst countless others here on CGN, is just one example of that.

So if it takes throwing it in both parties face to get them to wake up and take notice of the fact that the country is thoroughly f*&%ed up right now and needs real help, and get them to stop their endless bickering, so be it. Sorry if that offends you.

I would think a wake up call would be welcome. Both the Republican and Democrat parties should recognize that self-described independents and libertarians are the fastest growing political factions in this country. It won't be long before the two "major" parties become irrelevant and gone. And what will it matter who won their petty squabbles then?

I understand your point, but can you imagine where this country would be today if we didn't put up a fight?

Look, I think you and I are on the same page, or damn near. But the "fighting", as you call it, I see as a necessary evil. Unfortunate, but necessary. However, like you, I'd really rather there be no fighting and ALL OF US could get on the same page, the page you and I know to be right, the page that puts America back on track as our founders intended. But until the left kook fringe realizes why and how they're wrong, and what their agenda will do (and is doing) to this Nation, then I'm in the fight for as long as it takes.

BTW, the only offense I took was with your suggestion that conservatives and our agenda are as much to blame for the horrible state of affairs this country is facing as liberals are. We're not, and I sincerely hope that, as a libertarian, you can understand the diametric opposition. I like to consider myself the ultimate anti-liberal, and I consider myself so for the sake of the country I love and respect so dearly. Libertarian views are very close, and in many ways identical, to conservative ones.

Oh, and BTW again, I am not a Republican, I'm an independant. I revoked my allegiance to Republicans several years ago after the sad but true realization that the Republican party no longer represented me truthfully and faithfully as a conservative. I'm partyless, which I feel only emboldens the authenticity of my beliefs and can never be confused with a blind party footsoldier.

And as for you, OP. If you disagree with some posts somewhere by all means talk about it, answer those posts. But do not make the mistake of judging a group of people as being all the same, walking in step, parroting the same nonsense.

There is far more complexity and diversity in the world than can be encompassed by a closed mind.

Why don't you go over to the Conservatives mindlessly bashing Liberals Forum. This is a Gun Forum, it's about bringing gun owners together in a common cause to share thoughts, experiences and knowledge. CalGuns is an amazingly effective organization and is poised to rock the State of California and roll back anti-gun laws in a way unimaginable even a few years ago.

Your divisive crap is not helpful.

for respect of argument, im going to stop using the term "liberals" and just call them gun control supporters.

last night i got two of these "supporters" to finally admit that the 2nd amendment was important for hunting, home defense, and for having an armed nation that could fend off attack.

while they still called UOC carriers "smakll peckered cowboys" at least i got some common sense knocked into them.

i know 2 people is chicken scratch compared to the masses of sheeple that comment on SFgate, but i feel like i did not waste my time last night.

These are the idiots that support Brady, these are the idiots signing gun control petition. If we can argue with them and show them that total gun bans and their attitude are down right unconstitutional maybe we can start to convert people.

I tried to be as civilized and polite in my sfgate posts, and trying to refrain from calling everyone blanket liberal socialists haha..
