    Why are .22lr EBR's so un-popular?

Since .22lr rifles are exempt from all of these restrictive EBR laws, why are they so un-popular? The Salesman at the SJ Gun exchange made it clear that not many people were interested in their AK style carbine based on the fact that it was .22lr ... Obviously the .22lr is less powerful compared to the more standard calibers, but why the hate towards the .22lr rifle? I've personally never shot one, but don't see why they are so popular? Since you can have all the features with detachable mags?

I'd rather spend 600 bucks on a sweet shooting CZ than a finicky AR just so I can drop mags.

Yep, they're too expensive compared to a 10/22. You can get a real AK or AR for just a little more than a .22 EBR.

ya... I got one 10/22 in the safe and thats enough. I used to only shoot it because it was one of the few guns I had that I could shoot squirrels with. Now I have an ar in .223 . Even my wife calls it the gun that goes pew pew... She would rather shoot the 12 ga than the .22. Its fun to shoot but not a whole lot of bang I guess. I think more people like the bigger boom and range is always another big factor. Unless your that guy that can shoot asprin in the air with a .22, if I could do that I'd do it all day long lol.

22lr EBRs are not evil enough?

The only reason I would want to own a EBR .22 is if I shot competition with a centerfire rifle and wanted a cheaper way to practice while keeping all the controls and ergonomics identical. For my current purposes a 10/22 is more than adequate.

ive been shooting .223 lately like theres no tommorow, and its noticeably denting my funds.

i am looking to buy a .22lr, most likely a GSG, just so i can buy a brick of ammo and shoot it all without wasting so much money.

.40 cents a round for .223 is just a little too expensive right now.

I shoot a lot of other large calibers also. At this point the GSG and the 10/22 get to come to the range all the time. I can sit all day with a couple of bricks and shoot. The GSG is one of the most fun guns I have EVER shot. Just added a cheap red dot sight and have no problem hitting steel at 75-100 yds.

Yeah, the GSG is a real hoot. The lack of recoil keeps you on target for rapid semi-auto fire. Great fun to put down the AR for a few minutes and run some .22!

i had a dedicated .22lr ar and just never got into it. the missing recoil made it almost pointless to practice with. it was a spike's so the lack of a locking bolt made it less desirable too.

For me it was always having a bad *** looking gun with nothing to back it up. Kinda like those hopped up hondas you see......big wing, side skirts, spoilers, stickers, and an 80 HP engine.

                          All show and no go.

I'd love to have a 22 lr Ak, gsg, or ar style rifle, but I can't justify spending more on a .22 than what I got my ak that shoots 7.62 for. If they were the price of a 10/22 I'd be all over it.
