How much do .22lr rifles go for? Ak/AR types? Any good sources you guys recommend ? I'd love to check some out.

The one I saw at the Gun Exchange in SJ was 650, which is ridiculous because i'd rather have a 7.62 for the same price, just with a bullet button

Depending on the manufacturer, grain, etc. In the back of my mind, I'm thinking, there goes a cheeseburger.

You can pick up a new Colt for under $500. But, it's not a real AR. I'd suggest building a real AR up and putting a dedicated .22lr upper on it. They pop up used from time to time. A real AK in 22lr did cost around $300 something a couple years ago. Now, finding a WASR22 is not an easy thing to do. Try gunbroker and then you can see what they actually are selling for.

What about something like this? Worth the 100 dollars? Looks like a reasonable rifle?

There would be no problems shipping to CA either, correct?

Edit: Except that I see its a 24 rounder mag. But I could easily buy a 10/30 rounder for this , right?

I wouldn't buy it. It has a reserve so, you won't get it for $100. It is not an AK. It only looks simlar to one. You should be able to find a realy AK, which will last longer and be more reliable, cheaper than you could get this GSG for. However, I like my GSG5 because, for $500, I can not get a MP5 and a .22lr conversion for it. That would cost a hell of a lot more. Yes, GSG does make 10 round mags for California and other states which require them. Also, do not be fooled by the old armscor look-a-likes. They may look somewhat like what they are trying to replicate but, they work nothing like one. Also, they are a PITA to work on.

Thanks for the input. Sorry, but what are you referring to when you say "GSG"

Note the link you provided. It is a GSG AK imported by ATI. The GSG5 took the tacticool rimfire world by storm two years ago. It's a .22lr MP5 clone.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm guessing the .22lr "AK" i saw at the SJ gun exchange was prob a GSG too. So GSG is known for quality I'm assuming?

if i want to shoot 22 i just rock the marlin 60. 14 in the tube and its dead on at 75yards. $14 all day to fire it too. i dont need to spend $600 for a 22 just to look cool at the range. plus my 60 will eat the worst ammo you can throw at it all day long without a single fail.

OP since you're in SJ, if you dont mind a drive north over to San Rafael, check out Bullseye Shooting Range, they have a few 22 EBR for rent.

but it feels better to hold while watching TV than a Marlin 60 does.
