Wallyworld is not know for hiring the sharpest knives in the drawer (no offense ot anyone here). Several years ago they quit selling guns in California because they messed up the paperwork so bad they were going to get nailed by the DOJ. Wouldn't surprise me if they just quit selling ammo in California.

There's going to be a lot of WalMart Ammo whores needing a 12 Step program
      soon.

this is the most logical approach for walmart.

I have wondered all along if part of the impetus behind AB 962 was to drive WM out of the ammo business. In many parts of California the unions are up in arms against new or expanded WMs, notably UFCW in Salinas. WM has received strong community support, in part because they sell ammo. If they stop selling ammo where is there support? I for one have no reason on earth to drive 20 miles to WalMart if there's no ammo for sale there and will shop at Target and Costco exclusively.

I went to the Vallejo gun show today and had no problem buying any ammo I wanted ALL a good prices. The Miwall tables had the usual Bozos fighting for space in line. I went to one of the smaller ammo guys and the guy told me that he now needs to sell off all of his inventory because he won't be able to do the shows come next year. LOL, I love it. Just wait until next year when the ammo whores come to thier senses and realize that they really don't need 1,000,000 round of ammo and then can't legally sell more than 50 rounds at a time of it.

I bought 6 boxes (I know only a measly 300 rounds) of Federal 9mm. 115gr. for $12.50 each and 2 bricks of 550 federal .22LR for $14.00 each (no tax). And I didn't whore-ed it all leaving some for others to buy.

Just a head's up...the 50 round limit was deleted from the final bill. And the bill doesn't become effective (if it even makes it this far) until Feb 2011.

Resellers? Didn't you know that these people have had their ammo for many years, and the only reason why they're selling it is because they're moving and they can't take it with them?

Scumbags being scumbags, I'm sure they will find a way to be parasites in some other manner.

I really do feel Walmart will stop selling handgun ammo in CA since this bill passed. The discontinuance of firearms sales in CA shows that happening already.

hmm, considering the influence of unions in Sac, it may not be too far fetched.

But ammo sales are such a small part of WalMart's business, I don't know what the economic impact on them will be. AB962 was probably more directed at gun shows which have been a great resource for gun owners state wide when it comes to affordable ammo.

I don't know about that. When I could find ammo at WalMart I'd buy it and then cruise around the store and buy a bunch of other stuff I needed that week. If WalMart doesn't sell ammo any more then I can just as easily go to Costco or Target stores that are a few miles closer to me.

Ammo sales might be responsible for a small part of WalMart's overall profit. But what people buy in addition to ammo has to make a noticeable contribution to profits. If there is no ammo then there is no reason for many to go to WalMart.

There will be a different whore animal after 2/2011.

Let's say "Bob" doesn't wanna get fingerprinted for ammo.

"John" has no problem with it.

"John" goes to WM (or other vendor) and buys 100 boxes of .45. Then he posts the ammo FS on Calguns at 50% markup.

"Bob" will buy it at inflated prices just so he doesn't get fingerprinted.

                            The whoring continues...

after this law nobody from another state will sell you ammo with your cali id. they will say they dont want to deal with the trouble you might get in importing it into the state. no different than trying to get a gun shipped in from gunbroker. a good 80% of the stores selling refuse to ship to cali even if the gun is legal.

I can certainly see that being the case. I posted that same thought on one of the bill's numerous threads this week. They'll liken it to giving a diabetic a milky way or a drunk a bottle of Tennessee Corn Squeezins....those Cali boys can't be trusted, their own Government says so!

As for the fingerprinting, my guess is that this will be a biometric electronic scanning device in larger retail centers. Will Walmart make the investment in the gear and the training for their largely brain dead staff? I think you guys are mostly right in "probably not". What about Big Five or that huge joint out on the 15 between the 10 and the 210 (the name escapes me)? Who knows. But I also agree with a previous poster that opined that this fingerprinting (which is tantamount to consenting to a search of your person) is largely targeted at gun shows. Imagine the Miwall hassle if fingerprinting and all that is implemented.

Hopefully our esteemed friends at the CGF will be able to stick a nail in this turd before it turns white on the lawn.
