    Wal-mart discontinuing most ammo?

So I just got back from my local Wal-mart (Oceanside), and the manager of the sporting section told me that he received a letter from corporate that basically stated that they will be discontinuing most of there ammo. He suggested that everything except maybe shotgun ammo would be discontinued within the next five months. I don't know if this will effect all California Wal-marts or just specific ones around here. Anyway, thought I would just put that out there. Also I should say that I didn't see the letter or know for sure the details. I'm just going off of what I was told.

WalMart in Hanford didn't volunteer any information, especially anything along those lines.

By the way, the only handgun ammo at Hanford Wal-Mart is .25 Auto for $17 and change.
Had a few boxes of .22 short

Seemed like lots of rifle ammo though.

Probably in response to AB962 and their inability to properly train their employees and their lack of record keeping skills. Do a search on why Walmart doesn't carry guns in CA and you'll find out about their past issues with complying with sales regulations for guns.

I could see this but there Handgun ammo is already locked up and it takes an employee to get it for you. So other than taking a finger print, They are pretty much already in line with the bill.

All of the Walmarts I've been to who actually still sell ammo only have 12ga sporting rounds.

Does their current lock-in-glass-case setup meet the new storage reqs?

Yes, but I often see 12ga boxes just out in the open.

This could be true or could be total bs. Time will tell.

ab962 only says that handgun ammunition must be out of reach, not ALL ammo.

I know, that's why I said yes before adding a comma and then commenting on their 12ga stuff..

However, all it takes is for one person to make a pistol that shoots the 12ga and it's locked up.

I hope this is not true. It will be the beginning of the end.

Well, it may not be all FUD. Before the bill past there were a lot of threads on the impact of the bill. One of them was Walmart not selling ammo. Why? Because they would have to train every employee and change their store. This is money to them for a product that's most likely sold as a courtesy in most stores.

So, I'd be more willing to lean on the side of they are going to remove ammo because of this bill.
