My wife works for Walmart. I will have her ask management. I hope this is not the case, she buys all my ammo for me.

Wal-mart discontinuing most ammo?

Here's my thought process:
Los Angeles (area) Walmarts do not carry ammo. AFAIK, they don't want to deal with the (already in place) record keeping requirement and fingerprinting.
Santa Clarita has no record keeping or fingerprinting requirement for ammo purchased and the area Walmarts carry ammo there.
So why would Walmart continue to carry ammo if they don't carry it where those similar requirements are already in place? IMO, they won't carry it anymore.
According to press, Sacramento area has this law in place as well. Do Sacramento Walmarts carry ammo?-Nick-Comment

I believe Wally's choice to remove ammo from certain stores has more to do with the neighborhood than anything else. Sure seems like there is money to be made and if anyone could automate the fingerprinting/registration process it would be Wally.Comment

I would agree with that, but Porter Ranch is hardly a high-crime area. Panorama City, yes, but not PR. Especially when they'd be competing with Turners which is not far.-Nick-Comment

Couldn't agree more!
IMHO I think Walmart is going to discontinue the sale of handgun ammo (including 22LR) an only stock / sell traditional rifle calibers and shotgun ammo.
Like another person already mentioned, they are not going to take the time or spent the money to retrain their employees for AB962.
We'll see & we won't have wait very long to find out!Comment

Yup. In CA, they have already learned about such things the hard way."Did I say "republic?" By God, yes, I said "republic!" Long live the glorious republic of the United States of America. Damn democracy. It is a fraudulent term used, often by ignorant persons but no less often by intellectual fakers, to describe an infamous mixture of socialism, miscegenation, graft, confiscation of property and denial of personal rights to individuals whose virtuous principles make them offensive." - Westbrook PeglerComment

Would you really want your personal information to be left with the Wally World employees anyway?
What the real problem here that I see is that there will be no hoarding at Walmart up until July when AB 962 goes into law.
My local Wallys currently don't sell ammo so it doesn't bother me any.Last edited by joepamjohn; 10-17-2009, 12:12 AM."You can't handle the truth"Comment

You can blame your fellow Cal Gunners (and others) for that!
On the bright side, maybe when the bill goes into effect people buying "reasonable" amounts of ammo will actually be able to get it."You can't handle the truth"Comment
