Was supposed to pick up my first AR on Friday, got hit with the delay call on Thursday. Bought ammo the same day as the gun with no problems, and while it's been about a year and a half since my last gun there's been nothing in between that should change things. Dealer won't release on undetermined either, didn't even know to ask before but I guess I do now.

Have a look at post #727 and find an FFL on the linked list that will release on undetermined near you and give it another go. Otherwise your stuck calling around to shops to see if they will. I?d also never give the FFL that refused to release another dime of my business. It states right on the letter that they can, he?s simply helping the state with their scheme. Was supposed to pick up my first AR on Friday, got hit with the delay call on Thursday. Annoyingly there aren't any reliable dealers on the list close to me though, despite at least four stores in the area. (Burbank.)
One thing that did occur to me, I see people saying bridge tolls can be the reason and I did get the delay call about a week after crossing the Richmond Bridge and a day after crossing the Golden Gate, both without a Fastrak. (Was just vising family in the area so don't have one.) Never been a problem before, I just pay the invoices that come in the mail, but I wonder if that's what's holding things up and if it'll clear as soon as I pay them off. (Waiting on them to come in the mail.)
Oh yeah, I also got the delay letter and noticed that it seemed to say that it could be me or a possible stolen gun, and the gun in question was used, so I wonder if that's what it is. Anybody know if they'll give me a solid answer when the 30 days runs out if it turns out to be the gun's fault?Last edited by Max Archer; 08-28-2023, 3:50 PM.Comment

They will likely not inform you of anything because they are likely not doing anything on it. In my case it was a brand new rifle. I had bought a few stripped lowers right before Covid hit and didn’t buy anything until this rifle. No tickets or anything in that time, just caught a delay for some weird reason. Only thing that changed is I used a new FFL because my old one tried to tell me a bolt action rifle wasn’t CA compliant.Comment

I got a call from my FFL on day 9 saying that my DROS was delayed. On 09/11 it will be 30 days since I got delayed. No prior criminal background, valid ccw holder, state license guard card and firearm permit holder. My FFL does not release on undetermined. Any suggestions whether I should try and re DROS if it goes to undetermined. Literally own several firearms and this has never happened to me. Purchase a shotgun 5 weeks prior to this delayed DROS for a handgun. I did have a handgun stolen 5 months prior to this DROS delay, could that possibly be the reason why it was delayed ?Last edited by hawkins0621; 09-08-2023, 3:12 AM.Comment

I doubt the stolen handgun had anything to do with it. These delays are all random I just make all my purchases from an FFL that will release undeterred after it happens to me once I'm not about to turn the other cheek and have it happen again. It's better to have and not need than to need and not have"Comment
