80% builds aren't about cost, they're about putting all your personal info in the hands of alphabet agencies.

With the list they got by searching an honest company they will generate
Many thousands of man hours and get a spike in their yearly budget.

      Just my opinion.

That would be what resulted if the NFA and subsequent laws were thrown out. That's why the ATF won't push it when it comes to challenges to lowers being considered "firearms".

I note that you still have no references to any actual law to back what you are saying.

Id really like to see some LEGAL analysis on this from california lawyers or anyone who has been through the system in regards to these...

Can a legal gun owner, with several registered OEM glocks of same model, possess a p80 lower as long as the serialized slide/barrel is installed on it?

EDIT: I guess in Commiefornia NO finished lower frame is legal at all.

There is no legal route to make/use a P80 as a semi auto in CA which is why owing one is a really bad idea. There are no legal complete P80 owners in CA which is why they will not have a hard time getting up in your business if they want to, and it seems they want to.

This isn't hard. If you have an unfinished P80 you can possibly just give it to them and they go away. Anything that has been worked on or finished is NOT legal in CA. There are no exceptions to this. Some of you need to read before posting really dumb questions admitting to felonies.

How does simply ordering a p80 frame constitute PC for a search warrant? That is ****in ridiculous, unless there is clear evidence that a prohibited person bought them. Legal glock owners who purchase a p80 frame should be good?

Is possession of a finished 80% lower illegal in CA even if you legally own a glock of the same model?

Do you need to apply for a completely new serial?

Read closer i said "WANTED" to purchase a lower to pair with a legal registered upper. NOT a complete build, obviously not stupid enough to think that having a complete unserialized build is anything close to legal in this state.

I have extra slides for my registered serialized glocks which is completely legal, i was asking if it was legal to possess the lower p80 frame if i attach my serialized slide/barrel, hence the question because trust me i have read alot about these but saw nothing specific to the legalities of having a legal serialized slide/barrel on a p80 frame. It was a project i had in mind, seemed cheaper compared to cerakoting/stipling my gen3 lowers.

If this is not legal, than im glad i asked to clarify so that i dont unintentionally run afoul of the stupid laws here, i consider myself somewhat well versed on legalities and i can tell you 90% of people i meet barely know the laws, they ask why my rifles have "fin grips" and maglocks and other stupid questions, let alone if simply upgrading the lower of an already legal registered gun for grip and asthetics which sounds completely fine and doesnt fall into what they are clearly looking for (felons and gang bangers buying to circumvent FFL). I own several gen4s that have the better stipling for grip so its not something i need to do....i just really really want a p80 lower for my gen3 27 because then it will have the tac rail, and much better grip for the snappy pocket rocket.

So what happen if ATF knock on your door asking for the P80 kit, but you already **** it up or sold it?

Regardless if you use an aftermarket slide and barrel with no numbers or the stock ones that came with your original Glock.

You can’t even apply for a serial number for it due to the ounces of metal they want for you to engrave it on. It’s just not possible in California to finish an 80% legally.

The slide and barre numbers don’t matter. It’s the frame that is the firearm. Think of it as your AR lowers.

If you lived in another state there isn’t an issue with what you wanted to do.
Thank you for clarifying, im really in awe that there isnt a legal route for this. Hell i would even surrender my gen3 lower and engrave replacement p80 lower if they were so inclined, but this just seems like more proof of why this state is so assbackwards. FATF....its almost like they made it legal to ship into CA just to trap people.

Im confused because i saw plenty of LGS selling the polymer80 frame/jig kits on shelves before pandemic....kind of regretted not buying any, now not so much ill just stick to paying the premium for gen4/5 for the grip stipling, its a damn shame because i read almost everyone says the p80 lowers have a better centralized feel and grip in hand...

Once again they go after legal guys, instead of doing anything about the 200+ murders and gang shootings so far in sac/oak/SF

The series number on your slide or barrel means nothing.
The one that consider is a firearm in US is the lower receiver, in this case, your glock frame that has the number.
you get the P80 frame, finish it and put ur oem glock slide and barrel on with those number is not legal in CA.

PLease show me anywhere that owning an UNFINISHED 80% lower anything is illegal or where someone has been tracked down and harassed for buying and owning an UNIFINISHED 80% lower. You are spreading FUD, give it to them and they go away? There are differences in the two scenarios you mention and you are conflating owning a piece of plastic or aluminum and a finished reciever.

                                I don't own a P80 and this isn't hard.

If you use the P80 for it's only intended purpose in CA, it is a crime. The only logical reason to own one in CA is to make a semi automatic handgun. How hard do you think it would be to get a judge to sign off on that search warrant? Hint: not hard. How many people can manufacture cute legal defenses talking to ATF agents that get them to go away? Zero people so far in the history of the ATF.

Are P80s legal in CA? No.
Are P80s currently being seized in AZ from non-felons? Yes.
Is it likely AZ is more anti-gun than CA? Hahahahaha
Will people spend $100+ for $3 in plastic to use as an art piece or to build a bolt action? No.
Could the ATF determine that P80 with no work done is a firearm? 100% ABSOLUTELY.

You have to be totally nuts to think that the CA DOJ doesn't care about snagging low hanging fruit in ignorant gun owners. I think that's their main mission at this point. Look at how they used the last AW registration to visit people who tried to legally register illegally configured guns. If you have a P80 and live in CA, you better be prepared for problems.
