My dad bought a 1965 GTO back when he was a teenager for about $500, running with a 389. I reckon if he still had that car today, it would be so mean of him to ask for more than that when selling it, since after all it was used. Is that about right OP?

Again, cherry picking classic cars and relatively rare items versus third Gen G19s is only highlighting how ridiculous it is to ask $1200 for an in production used pistol. How much does your dad want for a 2018 V6 mustang? Twice sticker?

                Thats about right, all right.

You are not required to buy them. So what is your beef?

Looks like we still need to give the remedial Econ class, for the generations that grew up thinking socialism is good.
sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.

                      Thats about right, all right.
You fail to understand the basic fundamental concept of "the market sets the price." it doesn't matter what MSRP is for anything. All that matters is how much somebody is willing to pay for any given thing, based on their perceived value of the merchandise, what it's worth to them, and current market conditions. It wasn't long ago that people were selling used SCARs for $5k-$6k, and guess what, they were selling for that price, which means people were paying asking price, which means that was the market value of those items at that time.

If people are listing used Glocks for double retail value, it really doesn't matter if they're not selling for that price. If it sits, it sits. If somebody is willing to pay asking price, then that is the market value of that item at that point in time, but nobody is forced to pay a high premium for anything. They can choose to bite the bullet or they can choose to wait for a better deal, or until market prices return to normal. That's how free market economies work.

Welcome to free market USA. If you don't like the price, move on. I don't know why so many members here have a problem with that.

If someone doesn't see the value in paying $1200 it won't sell. The value of anything is set by the buyer. If the market won't buy a used Glock for $1200, it will go unsold. Or, the seller will lower the price until someone thinks the value is good from the buyer's perspective.

If I don't have a gun and the mob is coming down my street burning homes and killing people, $1200 bucks is a freaking bargain for a used Glock, just make sure you have plenty of ammo.

I do not see the problem here. Unless, you are advocating for a third party to monitor all transaction to ensure its a "fair" value. But, that would be...socialism. Maybe you're for that?

Or, why not go one step farther; Why not have a third party forcibly take the overpriced Glock (because the owner already has a gun) and give it to someone else who needs it more? Oh wait, that would be communism.

The "invisible hand" of the market is what capitalism is all about. And it is the best system yet devised.

It's funny, people constantly over-value the stuff they sell in the CG Marketplace anyway. Everyone seems to think their item is precious. But if it doesn't sell they have lost opportunity cost (they can't use the money tied up in that thing for anything else).

Some people on the Marketplace, keep bumping their stuff for weeks and months, without lowering the price. They either don't really want to sell it badly, or they are willing to leave it out there like stale bait hoping they might get a bite. LOL

Not really, it's supply and demand, and if you say strongly otherwise your account probably won't last long on here anyways. lol.

Now this, this sheer level of epic mental regression quoted below on the other hand might actually annoy me.

Apparently this prime level Karen thinks that all pistols have to be advertised as "used, unfired" because they undergo a factory function test, and apparently "his FFLs" all tell him this. And no, this isn't my thread, I'm not selling any Glocks. I just noticed that the 2020s are running pretty rampant. Too much false information being spread this year.

If this guy is right, there's no such thing as new guns you guys, the entire firearms industry is involved in a conspiracy.
