It doesn't matter what it is or what value it has to you, it only matters what someone will pay for it.
Unless some one is directly controlling the cost it is the free market at work.
You could say that COVID has disrupted the demand/supply mechanism because Glock (and other manufacturers) and its supply chain have been disrupted/slowed. But that is also part of the free market.Originally posted by tony270It's easy to be a keyboard warrior, you would melt like wax in front of me, you wouldn't be able to move your lips.Originally posted by repubconservPrint it out and frame it for all I careOriginally posted by el chivoI don't need to think at all..XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOriginally posted by pjsigYou are talking to someone who already won this lame conversation, not a brick a wall. Damn capitalist taking advantage of a product thats low in stocck and high in demand.Comment

Yeah ya do, it's clear in your response. I'm not the one here *****ing about the price of used guns because due to an unprecedented lack of supply, demand has skyrocketed and they're currently selling for a premium. That's how it works, but you apparently don't support the free market concept, otherwise it wouldn't be a problem for you. Or maybe you're just angry that you're not on the winning side of the market this time. Whatever it is, socialist ideals are not well received here, and certainly not by me.
And yes, we ARE in a free market. Always have been. Even if the prices aren't low enough for you.

The seller can ask for anything he wants. If it's too expensive for you, just move along instead of posting your thoughts.
You need to get familiar with Toyota pricing. A clean '84 HiLux will go in the $25-35K range. Parts are still available, they'll take you anywhere AND get your back.True wealth is time. Time to enjoy life.

Its clearly NOT a free market, and he has no idea what he is talking about. The roster and ppt alone eliminate any semblance of a free market.Yeah ya do, it's clear in your response. And yet here you are, complaining that the price of a used Glock is more than retail. If you already have what you want, then there's no need to worry or complain about what they're selling for now. Why do you care so much what others want to ask for their gear? That's their business, and if you don't want to engage in business with them, just move along.
And FYI, apparently you need to look up the definition of what a "free market" is. Here let me help you:
In CA, your ability to buy firearms and market price is based on supply and demand, just like every other commodity, including cars and houses, which also fluctuate in value based on market conditions. Every CA resident is free to decide to buy or sell any legally owned firearm to anybody else legally allowed to purchase it, at any time, and at any price. You can ask for $50, $500, or $50,000 dollars for a used Glock, and you're free to do so. No government agency is telling you no, you can't sell it for that much, you can only sell it for $x.xx and you can only sell it on Friday. Likewise, anybody else is free to pay whatever price they deem appropriate. Yeah you have to operate within the confines of CA law, but that's no different than any other state and has no bearing on the state of the free market. I have to operate within the confines of UT law. You don't like the limitations placed on you by CA law? Move. It ain't rocket science. The free market is an economic system based on supply and demand with little or no government control. It is a summary description of all voluntary exchanges that take place in a given economic environment. Free markets are characterized by a spontaneous and decentralized order of arrangements through which individuals make economic decisions.
You're clearly just really butthurt about the current market conditions, and well it is what it is. I don't understand why some of you guys have such a hard time just butting out of everybody else's business and minding your own. You just HAVE to post in threads griping about the cost of a used Glock. I mean how often do these threads pop up? Good grief, it's embarrassing. Are you also griping in the real estate threads about guys selling their house for $50k over asking? I mean shame on them for accepting a highly lucrative offer for their own property from another party willing to pay a premium in a hot market.
Be careful, you'll get chided by the price police for "cherry picking" a classic car example, even though it's just another commodity bought and sold according to the same free market principles. I own 2 classics and anybody who would expect me to sell either one for less than what I paid for them is high on oxygen.Last edited by MrFancyPants; 09-14-2020, 6:57 AM.Comment

Fail. Did you not see that part, or are you too proud to admit your own source destroys your....argument. The roster alone obliterates your simplistic, childlike mantra. Its NOT a free market.
Why do shallow thinkers, like you, not see the hypocrisy in “mind your own business”?. You demand, over and over, that i mind my own business, yet your demand that i do so is your attempt to tell ME what to do. Its none of YOUR business what i think or say about anything. It doesnt concern you, but you are too simplistic to understand that your insistence that i “mind [my] own business” is exactly what you pretend to sneer about in me.
Go get a clue.Last edited by Citadelgrad87; 09-14-2020, 7:38 AM.Originally posted by tony270It's easy to be a keyboard warrior, you would melt like wax in front of me, you wouldn't be able to move your lips.Originally posted by repubconservPrint it out and frame it for all I careOriginally posted by el chivoI don't need to think at all..XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOriginally posted by pjsigYou are talking to someone who already won this lame conversation, not a brick a wall.
