Wow, you really dont understand economics at all, do you? I should have deduced this earlier, as Dunning Kruger is in full effect.
It says, YOUR definition you dug up to “school” me SAYS “little or no government control”. That doesnt just mean price controls.
Try “ham handed regulations that dramatically affect supply“, you know, the word that is 50% of your understanding of how a market works. Government control of things like pistols through the roster is a giant thumb on the scale and disrupts, massively, the invisible hand that controls a truly free market.
If the government said “fancypants’ two classic cars are the onoy two that can be sold within the state and registered for operation on California roadways, all other pre 1972 cars must be destroyed in the next two years”, would you think you are a guru for making money in a “free market”, or do you think you could parlay GOVERNMENT CONTROL into a huge payday?
The handgun market in California is not “free” under any economic definition.Originally posted by tony270It's easy to be a keyboard warrior, you would melt like wax in front of me, you wouldn't be able to move your lips.Originally posted by repubconservPrint it out and frame it for all I careOriginally posted by el chivoI don't need to think at all..XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOriginally posted by pjsigYou are talking to someone who already won this lame conversation, not a brick a wall. OP.. it is how inflation works. (escalates) In Ca, this go's double, double.
Sadly, these same people who want (get) double. Will never pay double.
Simply refuse to buy the double. If every single person did this !. We would likely have a much lesser issue with the double.Comment

I understand economics far more than you can possibly comprehend. As I said before, I'm not the one here crying about the free market price of otherwise readily available pistols, when anybody with half a brain could have easily seen the current supply shortage coming from miles away and prepared accordingly.
Now you're going on and on about the roster, which is completely irrelevant to your crying about the price of an ON ROSTER 3rd gen Glock G19:
It's only a "ridiculous price" to you and the other crybabies who can't wrap their brains around the fact that at this point in time, supply is very low and demand is very high, thus many pistols are indeed "relatively rare" and selling for a premium. You can walk into any gun shop in your state and buy a 3rd gen G19 if they're in stock, so that has absolutely no relationship with your inability to buy pistols not on the roster at a LGS, yet that is the used pistol price you're crying about. The ONLY thing affecting the price of your used G19 is free market forces, and you clearly have a problem with that.
You can take your intellectual insults elsewhere, that's a battle you'll definitely not win with me. But whatever makes you feel better about yourself. People like you belong in CA. Nanny state syndrome in full effect.

That's laughable, California is one of the biggest economies in the world. It is, for all intents and purposes, its own country with its own laws and import restrictions. Within CA there is a free market. The free market is an economic system based on supply and demand with little or no government control.
Fail. Did you not see that part, or are you too proud to admit your own source destroys your....argument. The roster alone obliterates your simplistic, childlike mantra. Its NOT a free market.
Why do shallow thinkers, like you, not see the hypocrisy in “mind your own business”?. You demand, over and over, that i mind my own business, yet your demand that i do so is your attempt to tell ME what to do. Its none of YOUR business what i think or say about anything. It doesnt concern you, but you are too simplistic to understand that your insistence that i “mind [my] own business” is exactly what you pretend to sneer about in me.
Go get a clue.
You are calling others simplistic, when we can all see that you do not understand what's at work. California has its own market, and within that market demand sets the price for guns.
Besides, I don't know why you are arguing, it is plain to everyone that guns are in short supply, and therefore prices are rising. That's all there is, its dumb as hell to argue against what almost everyone intuitively understands, and for which there is evidence. This isn't hypothetical.Last edited by ScottsBad; 09-14-2020, 12:02 PM.sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.Comment

There is a difference in something appreciating in value over time aka an investment vs price gouging because people see an opportunity to get over on others.I bought a Colt Mk IV Series '70 Gold Cup National Match for $303.47. Are you seriously telling me I am prohibited from selling it at the price it now commands?
I bought a pristine P38, all matching #, original holster w/ spare magazine, from the man who killed the SS officer it was originally issued to. I paid him $900 for it in 1998. Are you saying I got ripped off?
Would you feel ripped off if gasoline went up to $50.00 a gallon because gas station owners think they can get away with it? Yeah, thats right - nobody likes it when someone else does it to them.Comment

Education
The seller can ask for anything he wants. If it's too expensive for you, just move along instead of posting your thoughts.
You need to get familiar with Toyota pricing. A clean '84 HiLux will go in the $25-35K range. Parts are still available, they'll take you anywhere AND get your back.Comment

Did you not see the news articles about guys getting busted for selling hand sanitizer and face masks at inflated costs aka price gouging? Defense Production Act of 1950.Comment

I am not "crying" about anything. Get it through your skull, I am not :butt hurt", I am not "poor", I am not in need of a G 19, I have one on my hip right now. I am not "crying", methinks the anonymity of the internet is loosening that jaw you insist on flapping. You are a blow hard.
I am not motivated by "not seeing something coming". I have been buying ammo and firearms and reloading components for decades. This is absolutely not butt hurt, as I don't need to buy anything. I am not crying. I am not motivated by anything other than the observation that $1200 for a current production pistol that retails for $500 is insane. Because it is. I don't want to warn anyone, I don't want to punish anyone, I don't want government control. I just want to say what I want to say, and you have a problem with that, among other shortcomings.
I am commenting on prices, not lacking understanding (although you certainly lack understanding in this regard, amusing how clueless you are about economics and markets after your goofy proclamation that I cannot comprehend how much you know).
For you to claim the roster does not impact prices of on roster pistols during any shortage, by limiting overall supply to certain models, belies an incredible naivete, astounding, really, since it is in the same post where you profess to be the Thanos of economics.
You are abjectly clueless and unworthy of further interaction with me.Last edited by Citadelgrad87; 09-14-2020, 12:59 PM.Originally posted by tony270It's easy to be a keyboard warrior, you would melt like wax in front of me, you wouldn't be able to move your lips.Originally posted by repubconservPrint it out and frame it for all I careOriginally posted by el chivoI don't need to think at all..XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOriginally posted by pjsigYou are talking to someone who already won this lame conversation, not a brick a wall. Wrong. There is not a free market when the roster artificially limits what can be sold. That's laughable, California is one of the biggest economies in the world. It is, for all intents and purposes, its own country with its own laws and import restrictions. Within CA there is a free market.

If California only allowed Prius cars to be sold, that's not a free market, no matter how many Prius are sold in this large economy.Originally posted by tony270It's easy to be a keyboard warrior, you would melt like wax in front of me, you wouldn't be able to move your lips.Originally posted by repubconservPrint it out and frame it for all I careOriginally posted by el chivoI don't need to think at all..XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOriginally posted by pjsigYou are talking to someone who already won this lame conversation, not a brick a wall. Since you make the mistake of thinking the internet is loosening my jaw, why don't you just give me a shout if you're ever in the Salt Lake City area, and I'll make time to introduce myself and we'll just see who's who in real life. But I doubt you have the cajones.

EVERY time a blow hard is checked online about jacking their jaw, they respond exactly like you: "I live in BFE, but if you take the time to come see me (as I know you won't), I bet YOU are the scared one."
Not even original.
You are dead to me now, I will not respond, ever, so you get to pretend you had the last word, clueless wannabe Milton Friedman, so go crazy. I don't need the ignore list to not respond to your idiocy.Originally posted by tony270It's easy to be a keyboard warrior, you would melt like wax in front of me, you wouldn't be able to move your lips.Originally posted by repubconservPrint it out and frame it for all I careOriginally posted by el chivoI don't need to think at all..XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXOriginally posted by pjsigYou are talking to someone who already won this lame conversation, not a brick a wall. But all it takes is threads like this and you leftards of the site reveal yourselves for all to see. Regardless, my offer stands.I don't need a list to ignore a blow hard. You are nutless and clueless.

It seems to me that many folks are arguing over the chosen words, not the meaning. California is not a free market for firearms, but it is a free market in regards to firearms prices. Government controls (like the handgun roster) limit the supply, but the government hasn't limited the supply of rostered guns. Demand for Gen3 Glock 19s has exceeded the available supply due to Glock's production schedule on the supply side and panic on the demand side. Because of lack of government price controls on Gen3 G19, the free market has allowed prices to rise.Comment
