There is one critical weakness of the xd. The way the gun is designed the safety can break and the slide can get stuck with a live round in the chamber. Then you have to either bring it to a gun Smith or send it to Springfield in the condition. I have nothing against the xd btw

The HS2000 was designed to improve on some of the initial complaints about Gaston’s people popper, and incorporated positive influences from the 1911 and SIG 226 - but it’s a fugly service gun down to its bones.

XD's are great pistols imho. I think they're more available because glocks are more "desirable", and in the past some internet gurus liked to trash them as unreliable.

My 1st modern pistol was a xd40. It's used for HD and as a favorate range pistol.

I like the size, weight, and grip safety. BTW, the 1st pistol I ever shot was a Remington Rand .45acp in boot camp. I've always liked grip safeties. Drawback is that aftermarket parts are harder to find, and cost more. Another downside is that mags cost more, an the standard ones hold less that their Glock counterparts.

Mods include a powder river trigger upgrade, night sights, and a 9mm conversion barrel. Now I'm looking for the unicorn, a .357 sig barrel. Shoot it better than the glock 22, and as well as the g27 and s&w915 (go figure)

Springfield makes a fine 1911. Don't care for the plastic models.

Started out with a XD-40 way back when. Now have several of different calibers and barrel lengths. Have been using a XD-9 Sub-compact for over 10 years as my main CCW pistol.

I like my XD9 sub compact, in fact I EDC it. It is bone stock other than the striker retaining pin was upgraded due to lots of dry firing practice.

There are a fair amount of upgrade parts for them as well.

When I had a change to buy another plastic-fantastic gun though, I bought a P10F OR. But I am on a CZ kick right now though there is nothing wrong with the XD line.

Didn't they start life as a Croatian HS2000? Cheap thing that Springfield slapped their name on?

I love my Springfield XDs. When I was thinking about my first polymer handgun, I handled a Glock, and it didn't feel right in my hands. Then I tried the XD, and it fit perfectly. I've never had any problems with mine whatsoever, and they've seen a lot of use over the years.

Glock fangirls will tell you Springfield XDs are terrible, but in the end you go with what feels comfortable in your hand.

My first sidearm was an XD9. 100% reliable no issues. My 17 year old daughter at the time shot it very well. It is my bedside gun & highly recommend them

I personally prefer the grip angle of the XD vs the Glock, to each his own.

Yep, noticing that when I shoot lower powered rounds the brass hits my head more.

My XD45 has never given me any trouble at all and it eats everything I feed it, plus it is accurate. It's so reliable I keep it in my nightstand.
