Our OP is none too happy that most of America is finally waking up and getting to the third part of that. So he'll do everything he can to undermine, dismiss, diminish, discredit, deflect, or 'whatabout' in order to stay in that first part.

Wanna' know the exact day when Ronald Reagan as Governor of California decided he was in favor of gun control? The exact same day he saw Huey Newton and the Black Panthers open carrying on the steps of Oakland City Hall (or was it?) the Capital in Sacramento.

People who want their chance at the american dream get jobs, work, stay with their family, don't have baby mamas or baby daddies, raise their kids and send them to school in addition to teaching them proper manner and culture.

People who want their chance at the american dream don't commit crimes, loot, and murder their own kind or anyone for that matter, while blaming Christopher Columbus, George Washington, etc.

Schools are free, food assistant and section 8 housing is available to all who need a hand up. They are not designed to be a for ever hand out. This is not a communist country. People who prefer that system should move to places where government does everthing for everyone, if there is such a place.
People who want their chance at the american dream and have hardship can use all of that to move up instead of sitting on their behinds screaming gimme and raising delinquents.

Look around you. Thousands and thousands of immigrants moved here, barely or not speaking the language, some with just the shirt on their backs, worked, became successful, and raised children who mostly went on to higher education and made decent Americans of themselves.
So, there is no excuse for someone born here, with all the head starts, not to at least succeed to the level of above immigrants.

Oh, BLM has no credit to be discredited. A bunch of ignorant folks mislead by the communist who will never be happy.

A CCW has NOTHING to do with the 2nd A.

PRELIMINARY MATTER (Extremely important!!!)

(1) Concealed Carry in California is not about the federal Constitution's 2nd Amendment "Right to Keep & Bear Arms". The Ninth Circuit en banc in Peruta said there is no 2nd A Right to Concealed Carry (and SCOTUS declined to review that decision). What you’re applying for is a CCW license to exercise a privilege under California state law. That’s the perspective of the sheriffs and chiefs because that’s the current state of the law for California. Make it your perspective when applying, even though you may believe it is wrong. Bringing up the 2nd Amendment won’t get you anywhere and will just annoy them. Don't do it.

(2) Concealed Carry requires a license (CCW) under CA state law. When you hear “license” (or "permit") think “permission slip”. You are requesting a permission slip to exercise a privilege of legally concealed carrying a handgun. This sucks and sounds unconstitutional, but it’s the current state of the law. Thank God Trump is president so SCOTUS should fix this sorry state of affairs. But don’t expect the sheriff to fix it -- he’s in law enforcement. He's not into making or judging laws. Don't try to debate the point. Even if you win, you won't win.

(3) A CA CCW is a May Issue license, not Shall Issue. Getting a driver's license at the DMV is Shall Issue. There you can wear a pro marijuana T-shirt, hippie shorts and flip-flops and look down your nose ring at the DMV Lady and still get your license. Not so here. When you hear “May Issue”, think “Mother may I?” That should be your attitude because that’s the power the sheriff has over whether he grants you a CCW or not. Don’t like it? Don’t apply. Once again: this is not about getting to carry under our federal Constitution’s 2nd A, but under our state’s statutory law. So far, as far as the 9th Circuit is concerned, we don’t have a RBA to Concealed Carry under the 2nd A (Peruta) and they're still figuring out what to decide re. Open Carry (Young, Nichols, Flanagan). If you want to legally carry now, you have to play by the rules of the game as they are now. Otherwise, just wait until the federal courts sort things out.

If you only want to carry under the 2nd A, don't apply for a CA CCW permit and remain unarmed in public in CA for a year or more until the federal courts decide what public carry right is enshrined in the 2nd A. (Will it be OC? CC? both? loaded? w/o permit or can a permit be required?) This thread is for those who'd rather CC under our state's permitting scheme until then. I keep harping on this because we, on CGN, are always talking about the 2nd A and various court battles over it. It will be easy for you to slip back into that way of thinking during your permit application process and talking during the interview — DON’T!!!

Some mom made a wrong turn and ended up going into NJ by mistake. She had a gun and CCW from PA. NJ has tough gun laws and mandatory jail for carrying a gun, no reciprocity. She took the wrong turn and ended up in jail.

If I was black, considering over 3,000+ blacks a year are killed by other blacks including children caught in cross fires or by a stray bullet I think I'd be more worried about letting my kids play outside in a black neighborhood than worry about the odd bad police officer.

Then again black lives do not matter when taken by another black it seems.

I'm in the same situation living in a county that does not issue CCWs. I've never had to decide whether or not to apply for one.

Take for example the recently reported homeless young lady who graduated at the top of her class and got accepted to Yale medical school where she is in her 2nd year.
The 'oh poor me' BLM group, and others, like to tell you they are the victim of (fill in the blank). They learned this partially from the democratic party who see them as people to be taken care of; manipulated. Almost treated as little children. 'Oh let us take care of you.
