Maybe you are missing that simply being too drunk to accurately follow the orders of a cop with a gun, who is yelling death threats at you. Is not a KILLING OFFENSE.

Some drunk crawling on his hands and knees, begging for his life, while attempting to follow conflicting threats of death.
Is a F'n FAR CRY FROM A CLEAR AND PRESENT THREAT TO LIFE OR SEVERE BODILY HARM! Which is the accepted legal standard for use of lethal force.
At some point in our society it must become apparent. That simply granting "MAGIC WORDS" to LE. That absolve them of any and all personal responsibility for their own bad choices. Is NOT WORKING for the good of the citizenry.

Just ask Dylan Taylor. He never even knew the cop was there because of the hoody and headphones. Didn't matter, he was shot in the back through the spine and heart, and hit the ground dead as a doornail. FOR NOT FOLLOWING ORDERS. The VERY FIRST thing out of Cop #2's mouth within a few seconds of the shooting, was the typical CYA comment. "I saw it, HE WAS REACHING!" [paraphrased]. CASE CLOSED, COP EXONERATED, MAGIC WORDS TRUMP COMMON SENSE.
There are NO ABSOLUTES. There are good people, and there are bad people. We need cops, because of the bad people. But with the pool of good/bad to choose from. Some cops are the latter, THANKFULLY DAMN FEW IMHO. And like everyone else, some are basically good. But make poor choices in the performance of their duty. As such, they should be held accountable for those "poor choices".
NOW, BACK ON TOPIC
I personally know SEVERAL cops, both Local PD, and sheriffs deputies. Who have stopped, detained, and released on the spot. Otherwise law abiding citizens who were carrying concealed. Both on their persons, and there vehicles.
See....... [Sect 4 CaPC].
I would not bet my freedom, on the off chance of being stopped by such an integrity motivated LEO. Because in today's world, I believe them to be far fewer than in the past.
