Possible Lockdown in Waiting Period

Might the FFL be able to schedule a private appointment that falls within the legal window of the date range for pick up?...I'm sure all those private table-top FFL's that do business out of their home offices are not shutting down. If the store-front must be closed to the public, I fail to see the private appointment route being a problem.Comment

Apparently it does not include gun/outdoors shops. My DROS 10 day wait started on 03/12 at 2 minutes before 6pm, so it ends Sunday at 03/22, same time. Today the government shelter-in-place order took affect, and my bay area store has announced closure until further notice. The shelter order expires April 7, which leaves only a very few days out of the 30 day window and there may be a very large backlog for them if they open then.
We'll see what they do, but I tell you, if the government forces me to pay the unreasonable fee and wait, then disallows me to collect, then forces me to pay again to reDROS...well, that abuse just can't stand.Comment

Since the bay area is now on a government-mandated shelter-in-place order, gun shops, including mine, are closed. Those of us here with incomplete DROS windows will need some adjustment. I just emailed the CA DOJ Firearms Bureau with a question regarding what they are going to do about this issue. So, what happens if everything but grocery and drug stored gets locked down while you are waiting 10 days for your gun you just purchased? DOJ could be shut down too. Would they let you pick it up if it went past 30 days or would you have to start the DROS process all over? Is now a bad time to buy/sell a gun?
I hope they will give consideration and give back good news, but I don't have high expectations. A bad outcome here seems certain to be cause for a completely new 2A rights violation action. If our rights are violated in the time of biggest need, what good are they?Comment

Thanks for checking. If the govt-instituted transfer system (DROS) breaks down, folks should look into the backup private party system: nod and a handshake... well, skip the handshake part, and wipe down the pistol grip.Since the bay area is now on a government-mandated shelter-in-place order, gun shops, including mine, are closed. Hear, hear!
That said, my 10 days on my latest acquisition was up on Sunday. Hope the lines die down soon so that I don't end up having to reDROS and wait another 10.Last edited by Dimitri A.; 03-17-2020, 2:34 PM.Comment

This current situation is relatively new and word going around is that it may not be over until July or August. Things are moving quickly and there's a possibility that voluntary closing of non essential stores may become mandatory at some point. Turner's in Norwalk told me a few days ago that they may be closing soon but didn't know exactly when. I have two guns there that can be picked up anytime but there's been a minimum 3 hour wait every day. I'm going to go tomorrow morning an hour before opening and get in line and stick it out.
