There’s a reason cash is still King, and Venmo is that thing that no one who takes money seriously has ever heard of or gives two squirts about.

Only a millenial would think that Venmo is safer than cash.

In one of my PPTs the person behind the counter literally said: "You better transfer the money here in the store. On the parking lot looks fishy."

In my opinion the money transfer should happen in the store right after the buyer inspects the firearm and firmly declares that he/she will take it. Also, I think it is not a bad idea if both parties participate and have a visual when money is counted.

I had the exact thing happen to me. At Turners reseda and in Simi.

Surprised at how many in this thread insist on payment before paperwork even starts.

As both buyer and seller, cash has not changed hands until after DROS paperwork is completed. Every time I've been the buyer I show full amount in cash before inspection.

I've never had either buyer or seller complain or even show any concern over this.

I meet the potential seller outside the store in my vehicle to introduce ourselves and have a look over what is being sold, show the cash and agree that payment happens when the DROS is completed. Never had a problem in many PPT transactions.

I would NEVER allow a stranger in my car for a cash transaction. Close quarters, no one around, all kinds of bad could happen. IMHO

Most FFLs prefer that the cash exchange takes place outside their shop. I was told that if the exchange takes place in their presence it becomes taxable .....just be discrete

I’ve never run into this. The FFL has no way to even know It is a cash transaction. For all they know the money was for same hanky panky that took place in the parking lot before coming into the store!

Yeah there is always room for modification of the before/after paperwork rule depending on buyer/seller iTrader score and also the vibe you get from the person. There are only a very few buyers I have dealt with where I stuck to the rule.

Zelle or wire transfer is how the ballers do it.

Zelle is the only electronic payment I accept.
I don't do transactions big enough to setup a real wire transfer.
I can see the payment as pending in my account immediately and there is no way the buyer can cancel or dispute the transaction later like they can with most other electronic payment schemes.
