Actually that's not true. I did sell my 100W Marshall in a parking lot to a nice 50s-ish dude from Elsinore and he was fine with using Venmo.

Every PPT gun i have purchased, i paid after paperwork is done outside the store. I dont want some guy that doesn't own the gun to run off before the transfer is started, you never know... He might be a felon that can't own a firearm also.

I usually deal in cash in a public area. Cash moves before paperwork starts.

Honestly I don't like cash bc I don't like carrying it but it's seller's rules. I prefer Venmo and Cashapp but I can't find anyone under age 40 who uses it.

My last purchase the seller asked for half before the paperwork (after I inspected the gun) and half after the paperwork. I thought that was a nice arrangement.

^^^ Wrong after paperwork signed buyer owns the firearm even if in dros wait period aLL MONEY UPFRONT. Never have the store involved in the payment by witness or otherwise non of their business they are not a party in the transaction.

I meet the potential seller outside the store in my vehicle to introduce ourselves and have a look over what is being sold, show the cash and agree that payment happens when the DROS is completed. Never had a problem in many PPT transactions.

Most FFLs prefer that the cash exchange takes place outside their shop. I was told that if the exchange takes place in their presence it becomes taxable .....just be discrete
