I was almost offended.... crafty use of the enter button there buddy.

I don't really have a 'Zombie' plan, I do sometimes think of a **** hits the fan plan though, which doesn't differ too much from a zombie plan, really.

It just makes thinking about global melt-down plans more fun, and head-shotty.

yeah yeah and so are tracers, which would probably accomplish the same thing.

If/when the Zombie Apocalypse™ starts, I'm pretty sure that complying with the law regarding fireworks and tracers will be a secondary concern.

You do not have enough loaded magazines.

My zombie plan involves 275 rounds of .22LR.... then I'm going to have to put another drum on my rifle, for my AM180 I can cary roughly 2-3k of ammo pre-loaded in drums without it being awkward.

heck I have 1k of 9mm loaded in mags for my backup pistol (g17), and that doesn't count the piles, and piles, and piles, and piles of ar15's ak47's, mini14's, 10/22's, 9mm AR15's, belt fed ordinance etc.. that is kicking around.

            zombie preparation takes commitment.

hahaha, some friends and i were talking about this recently. we decided to make base at costco. we'd have an endless supply of food, beverage, booze and smokes.

between the patio furniture and clothing, we could hole up for a while.

oh yeah, we would also bring everything we have. 5 of us would equal a dozen rifles and shotguns. 2 dozen pistols and all the ammo to go along with it.

just need some women to cook and clean and 'entertain' us.
A gun in your hand is better than a cop on the phone.

BTW, when did the bar get set so low?

I have a good supply of firearms and ammo to defend myself but in that situation, I think I'd try to aquire something belt fed. A M249 or M240 would make a nice zombie popper. I'd "Mad Max" out my truck, mount the SAW on the roof and recruit a friend as gunner. Then our familes would get the hell out of dodge, move to the mountains, and shoot anything with a dazed, glazed over look in it's eyes. Hopefully I wouldn't come across any liberals...it would be hard to tell them apart.

Not trying to hijack the thread.... just a question before I settle on a plan.

If the zombies are the "28 Days Later" type that are infected with a virus, but eventually die from starvation... then do you really need head shots with this type of Zombie? Wouldn't a few center mass hits work? They really are not the "living dead".... but "virus possessed". To me this type seems more likely then the living dead type. Some strange man-made virus takes over the mind and makes people kill with rage. Which sucks because I would prefer the slow moving zombies... not the ones that run at full speed and never get tired.

A bio suit might not be a bad idea depending what caliber you are shooting. I saw some guys talked about shooting 22's. Not sure if that would do the job but would be less of a mess to clean after you call the dead zombie removal service. I am sure that with the .45 or shotgun that the mess would be hard to get out of the carpet. Does Febreze have a zombie stink remover formula yet? Only seen one person talk about the drive away escape scenario. Besides the usual Humvee, what is the best vehicle to break a possible zombie barricade?

Once the SHTF, it's too late to start thinking about "acquiring" new toys, supplies etc. Considering most places like Costco, Walmart, etc. only have at most 7 days worth of normal shopping goods on hand, they will likely be empty and full of disgruntled looters by the time you get there with your band of brothers. I'm pretty sure those folks who plan on raiding an Armory are going to be sorely disappointed with that decision too.

Preparation isn't just a cure for hemorrhoids, it will save your life and your conscience when things have finally calmed down.
