Yes. But remember that this is Kalifornia. . . You can sue but you can expect any win to involve a whole lot of litigation and a whole lot of money - best hope that the NRA/CRPA takes up your case and helps you with it. Even then I'd not count on a win although I suspect this case to at least be somewhat helpful.

It's not about filling positions. You're probably right that police agencies would find enough applicants to fill vacancies even if qualified immunity went away. Keep in mind that most are having difficulty finding enough qualified applicants at present.

One of the strongest arguments in favor of qualified immunity is that it facilitates discretionary decision-making by officers. Think about this - if some drunk walks up to you an the street an punches you out, do you really want the responding officer to say "Nope, I'm not going to arrest him. He could claim that it was mutual combat and then sue me."

Or do you want for your daughter to be molested, and the responding officer refuse to arrest the suspect because there "isn't enough proof" that the crime was committed.

Be careful what you ask for, you might get it.

My girlfriend pointed this out to me this morning she thinks Trump some how used the timing of the holiday (CA is the only state that observes Cesar Chavez Day) to slow down the Liberals and give us more time to buy mags.

I don't believe they will have their ducks in a row that quickly. There are national implications that come in to play. Yesterday's ruling read like a love letter to Gorsuch.

I can see the CA DOJ trying to scare FFLs, but I think the reason we haven't seen the best and brightest legal minds of Calguns opine on this, is because they do not want to give them any ideas.
