In case it wasn't obvious, nothing I write here should be interpreted as legal advice.

I'm a member and RSO at Sunnyvale Rod & Gun. If you observe the 4 rules and listen to RSOs during ceasefires, nobody will bother you. We don't even let the DA and police agencies use the range anymore. Only thing you might hear would be "nice gun".

Los Altos Rod and Gun (not in Los Altos btw) has allowed normal capacity mags since I've been going since the early 1990's. Would never think of plinkin' the tin can range with neutered mags.

"Racist"... wut? They just don't have patience for jerks.
Only time I've ever seen anyone thrown out of LARGC, was when an idiot pulled-in dressed in full-blown ninja gear including a balaclava, and he had a loaded Beretta tucked into his shoulder holster. The ROs swarmed him, unloaded all of his guns (they were all loaded) and then asked him to leave .

          same.

no one really notices as long as you are doing a mag dump.

Both firsthand experience and friends', to clarify, not the range, just some particular staff.

Its like stepping into a lead factory with zero ventilation. The ceilings are shot up, the floor is barely swept, theres only 8 lanes, and the benches behind the lanes are stuffed full of trash. The staff IS super nice, but the facility needs A MAJOR uplift. Its dangerously unventilated in there. Havent shot there in years, and I used to be a longtime member too.

They need to vet who they allow on the range more to be honest. I generally go to a private invite-only range and you won't find a single casing anywhere.

Go to a public range and it's a mess and no one sweeps the brass. Oddly enough, never had this issue in other, saner states. Must be part and parcel of those places with "good schools" everyone is wild about.

Man, I'd love to hear the story on that... although last time I was there, I know there was a LEO there shooting his department-issued "resources" on his own time, fwiw.

Anyhow, SVRG is by far one of the best places to go around here in the SFBA if they are open when you are available. (Pssssttt... Tuesdays are a great day to play hooky... )

Technically it's not in Cupertino either, it's county land -- unless Cupertino got bigger and annexed??

No exciting story to tell. We had agreements to lease certain days & eves to the DA & Agencies for private training, but when the agreements expired, nobody wanted to let them continue on account of their positions against 2A rights (except for themselves). As private land, they have no rights to enter without due cause and we keep a tight ship.

No problems letting individual LEOs to use the range for additional training. I've met sheriff SWAT using our range to sight their guns and practice before qualifications. Kinda cool seeing them use full auto & suppressed M4s. One guy is really cool and gave me several boxes of .223 TAP ammo because his dept switched to 5.56.

On Target is the Ritz. Try Evans. Actually, I like beat up old Evans more due to the people working and shooting there.

Wow, hey, thanks for chiming in. The staff there have been nothing but fantastic in my experience. I don't go there often but it's possible we chatted at some point.
                                It's a beautiful place.

My friends and I tried Metcalfe and had a slightly awful experience. Including rude staff. I believe they are associated somehow with SJPD and/or SC county sheriffs.
Funny story: the guy at the check-in desk couldn't comprehend our question about having 50 & 100 yard targets in the same shooting lane. He literally asked, "Have you ever been to a range before?". I couldn't resist answering back that SVRG has that kind of setup.
