Standard Cap Magazines At Gun Range

Has anybody taken a standard cap magazine to a local (bay area) gun range yet? I'm curious how they're going to react (if at all).

People who have had them for years have been taking them for years without issue at most ranges. Due to the prevalence of 10/30 mags, most people won't even notice the difference unless you rapid fire mag dump all 30.

That's a good point; I had not thought about that one (I got into guns long after the ban was put in place).

I've seen full blown SBRs at the range, they wouldn't know the difference between a true 30 vs a 10/30. Regardless, the ruling makes it legal for this weekend anyways

I unblocked my 10/30 pmags today and shot them at the local gun range with the full 30 rounds; nobody seemed to notice at all. Awesome way to celebrate Freedom Weekend.

I bought a sihtload of mags in 1999. I have used them publically ever since, including crossing state lines with them.

              No issues.

In general, range staff doesn't care what mag you have as long as the range is safe. However, I had one bad experience at my local range on a specific day. The staff was new there coz I never saw him before, so I showed him what ammo I used, then he just pulled out one of my mags from my bag without asking me, then told me he wanted to make sure my mag was 10rd. I was like "WTF , you should ask me before pulling out the stuff from my bag." then he also started to educate me with B.S like " you know, the California law says you can't have loaded mags in your range bag". I laughed and asked him where he got such info because my mags are separated from my gun case ? he said it was common sense. lol, he made my day and wished his boss enjoyed his service.

Wow what an idiot, employee sounds like one of those "common sense" gun law libs making up stupid laws.

Which range are you writing about??

guess what, they don't even have to be separated from the gun case. 'Loaded' magazines can be located anywhere but inserted into a gun during transportation.

yep, I was telling him the same thing, my guns were not loaded, no loaded mag inserted into the gun and no loaded ammo inside the chamber, I thought he was trying to be a smart *** at range ( and he was a new employee as well).
