    sounds like you should look into joining some sort of a club or maybe participating in a match. I fell into a little bit of a lull a few years ago but doing these two things has catapulted me back into it.

    FWIW negative media or perspective had no impact in my lull, just got a little bored from shooting at paper.

        Gun shows ain't what they used to be, and OP says he's going to keep a variety of firearms.

        He's only in a lull... give him a break, and for being honest.

        NOTABIKER, come on out to the Mojave with us (Mojave Lever Crew)! and shoot some ree-vol-ver caliber lee-ver car-beens! You'll have a lot of fun. It's on us.

        I don't blame him for losing interest. Who wants to lug a 12-lb milsurp around? [Edit: ...when you don't have to? when lever carbines weigh 6 lbs. And who wants to shoot neutered ARs?]

          This commie state will try to break you into submission so I understand the frustration and defeated spirit from time to time.

          I have accepted that reality and try to enjoy our firearms whatever configurations they're in. Although I hated the grip fins, life goes on until we're out of this oppressive state.

              I took about a 7yr break a while back OP. Now in the last year alone I bought or built at least 6 guns, and go out shooting again. It probably just a lull...

                If I lived in a free state or closer to BLM land, I'd be out shooting a lot more too.

                  About the same age as you and, as many of us that live in the PRK, can understand the frustration. The PRK drive to socialism is of course much broader than the efforts to disarm law abiding citizens. Living here in No San Diego county is great, but it's still PRK. I'm surrounded by fellow 2a advocates as neighbors. We go shooting together.

                  Currently working on building a LH SCR. Projects like this keep me engaged in the hobby. Helping one neighbor with another firearms project. We use my little benchtop mill to make stuff for these projects.

                  Keep the faith, don't yield to the socialists.

                      Hang in there OP.

                      I don't blame you for being discouraged by the anti-gun climate in the this state. It is frustrating as heck sometimes.

                      And it's okay to take a break from shooting and enjoy other things. Many of us have done it at times.

                      Don't get rid of your guns though. If you do, you may regret it later; especially if some of them can't be easily replaced in the future.

                        I'm just short of 71 myself. I stopped buying when they started registering. I still buy Ammunition, and I look forward to my Walmart Adventures. I would like to go shoot more often, but I don't like going to the ranges by myself anymore. I have a two year plan for buying a"Vacation" home in AZ, which hopefully will help me get out of my own little funk. But if you ever want to meet up at Angeles on a Tuesday or a Thursday, send me a PM.

                          Don't let the communists get you down, we can't let them win.

                          I got my first gun 53 years ago. I've never considered gun ownership a hobby. It's an inalienable right that I will never give up. There isn't anything available that I want but when I move to America I will buy again.

                          Take a little break and then start looking at the wonderful craftsmanship of your firearms, hopefully it will spark your enthusiasm.

                            I feel the same way.
                            A couple local BLM ranges closed;
                            A couple of local shops closed;
                            New laws are always making things difficult;
                            It's hard to enjoy this hobby here in CA
