I’ve been interested in guns since I was a kid. They’re not my only hobby. They’re also expensive and not the easiest to enjoy. I don’t get depressed when I lose interest in a hobby. It just means I’m spending time doing other things. There’s nothing wrong with shelving a hobby until interest builds again. Hang tough Notabiker, the stoke will come back. But I do hear ya, Cali laws suck. It seems like I open my safe to stay in compliance more than to shoot.

Many people feel the same way you do but don't want to admit it.I am 71 and only got into the hobby about eight years ago.I used to go to to all my local gun stores and the Gun shows. I was mostly into WW 2 C&Rs. I had a lot of fun buying C&Rs cash and carry when it was legal.
All these restrictions ruined it for me. I still have a small variety of guns i will keep.
I no longer go to gun shows or buy gun related magazines. Can't remember the last issue of Shot Gun News i bought.I used to buy ammo every pay day.
I force myself to go to the range and i no longer take a gun out and just admire it. All the negativity regarding guns and stupid new gun laws mostly ruined it for me.

My last range visit was 6 years ago. My favorite guns to take to the range were my Uzi & HK93. I didn't want to butcher them to make them legal, so I sold them. And due to the lack of quality, I haven't bought a gun in 8 years. The guns I'm keeping are house guns & they were made several years ago when quality meant something.Comment

I'm 71 and have only been into guns for a little over three years---so I'm going full tilt---------BUT
How you feel about guns is the feeling I get when I go to Yosemite and see how the government and concessionaires have totally ruined in compared to how it was as a kid.Comment

It's frustrating to not be able to get a huge majority of guns that are released, then have a hassle to get ammo online, a full day's trip out to decent BLM land to shoot, which is closed half the year, and trashed the other half, just to worry about if your modern stuff is legal in the eyes of any curious LEO.
I'm about to the point where I'm just keeping what I need for defense and a couple range trips per year and that's it.Comment

This.
I haven't shot my rifles in a while. Featureless just kills it for me. I wen't fixed mag with the ARs but still haven't had the same enthusiasm. That said I know I'll circle back to them at some point. A new AK will be out of jail soon and I'm hoping it will revitalize my long gun interest a bit - even with the stupid grip fin.
Hang in there with it OP. And don't start getting rid of guns until you've had ample time to let your interest flare up again.iTrader: 52 transactions, 100% positive.Comment

Well NOTABIKER, at least most of your guns are WWII C&R's, so they shouldn't be subject to any of the restrictive "AW" regulations.I am 71 and only got into the hobby about eight years ago.I used to go to to all my local gun stores and the Gun shows. I think you're just going through a down cycle where shooting isn't as high a priority right now. I went through a funk like that from '07 through '12. I didn't buy any new guns during that stretch and think I may have only gone shooting a hand full of times at most.
In my case it actually worked to my advantage because when the ammo shortage of '13 hit, I still had a boatload of ammo that I had hoarded from the late 90's through the early '00's to carry me through the lean times.
If I were you, I'd still keep buying ammo since it is plentiful and affordable right now. Who knows, maybe in a year or two you'll have a new found appreciation for shooting again.Comment

In Texas we'd say that "sounds like your Momma' didn't raise you right".
I'd judge it almost equal to a fu. It's both inconsiderate and tasteless. If you're out of middle school you should know better.
I'd say you owe the OP an apology.True wealth is time. Time to enjoy life.
