I work across the street from mike. He is the most honest firearms expert I've had the pleasure of doing business with. I will exclusively order or ship any ammo to his store. Unfortunately california wants this to happen to all gun shops. Limit the supply of what they can sell, kill the demand. Thank communist traitors.

Only dealt with Mike and OC Armory once but hey, I'm from Ventura County.
Best wishes to Mike the shop!

Dang. This was my go to shop for SSE in OC. Sucks to see them reduce hours.

But I foresee a lot more of this smaller FFL’s having to force their doors closed. I only see Turners being the only gun shop open in 2019.

A LOT of gun shop owners I know (okay 2 of them) voted for Hillary for this very reason.

Panics and Democrats sell guns. Obama was the greatest gun salesman in history....

Turners, and Ammo bros, rifle gear will live on. RF has gunsmith services, has gun prices cheaper then other lgs and sell volume to make up for lower cost, They also have good online presence. OC armory and other lgs can not continue to treat this as a mom n pops business to survive. Peaks and valleys, but this valley will run long and many lgs might not survive to see the next peak. Not sure how ammo bros is doing, they have a lot of stores, but their website sucks. They have An untapped market.

Gunsmithing, hunting equipment, knives, shotguns, special orders, consignemnets... This should help to survive. Obviously, a better presence in the Internet is MUST

Unfortunately, the fate of small gun businesses in California is rather grim.

Yes, but not all of it. The fact is, gun purchasing is way, way down this year not only in California bu nationally.

Trump is a bad salesman for guns.

There is no panic purchase "gotta get 'em before a deadline" right now.

California has put enough crimps in place that people are losing interest in what is available (i.e., the Roster is limited, so people turn to buying unique/interesting by PPT which only nets the store $10.00, and with bullet-button options gone and featureless options a reduction from what was available, there is a complete shut-down there).

People that splurged on SSE, Bullet-Button, and ammo before recent "deadlines" are probably backing-off from any major gun/ammo purchases right now simply for stocking up prior to 1/1/2018. Honestly, there is just little on the market available to CA that is interesting.

What did get revealed at SHOT that would have been interesting, in most cases can't be sold in CA.

The big inventory stores in more densely populate areas are still doing OK, especially those that have a corner of the market in the area (Martin B. Retting for example).

But others? I can see the suffering getting worse as summer approaches, which is always a slow-period for gun sales. There may be a surge from tax-refunds in April and May, but after that it will be famine.

Mike / OC Armory is awesome. Great service and did a lot to smite CA legislators and DOJ using their own ignorance against them. I've bought several guns there or done PPTs in the past. But it's been at least a couple of years since I've been there; might be time to make a visit.

                    .

I bought monthly during the SSE days, his dad was always a pleasure to transact with. Mike was hit or miss depending on his mood.

Sadly as things evolve you have to reinvent your business. I will not set foot in Turners right down the street with their I’m doing you a favor to sell you anything attitude.

Don't worry about it lot's of shop will follow in the state. Not being rude about this but sooner or later it is. How much shop have closed just with the last 5yrs or 3yrs passed. I know in Fresno their is more than 4 shop has closed and so as a few that is following them. All waiting in line due to our best government and the laws that they'd creative. Supporting one shop and leave the others out is not going to help on bit. Once they fall they all going to fall like Domino's. Yes most of calguns r from South and North but few from Central. This shop is the hope of all southern area, so for some people that are not their and haven't been to the shop will u already know what going to happen. Sorry to say such a thing but it's the TRUE. Like in Fresno again a sporting shop that being in town for more than 40yrs and is over price will be going out soon because no one's support them and the worker r D**** this is the opposite of supporting from as everyone hear but oh well.

I have been there several times. Of the two brothers, one is completely friendly. The other is a sociopath. The father is hit or miss. I have seen him friendly and I have experienced extreme rudeness.

I have never been treated worse by any gun store in my entire life than at OC Armory.

I think some of their downturn is just Karma.

*** On the positive side, the most professional and friendly gun store I have ever done business with was Riflegear. No ego. Good manners. Sometimes a long wait. But, 100% worth it.

I still don't understand why FFLs don't build a digital footprint. They all seem to market old school "word of mouth" besides RG. I think they could all learn something by a decent website and value tracking clicks can bring....

I hear they are great for transferring/receiving traditional non controversial firearms and doing SSEs.
I tried to get them to do an FFL transfer on a Chinese (NORINCO) SKS with a spiker bayonet about 7 years ago. They wouldn't do it because they thought any NORINCO rifle was a named assault rifle in Cali. I showed them that it was an SKS. It didn't matter.. Maybe they were having issues with Cali DOJ at the time? FUD? Don't know but Turners was the same way with NORINCO SKSs. These were NOT illegal 7 years ago. Even if the bayonet was attached. They were only federally banned if imported attached at the very end of the Chinese importation ban.

I like the shop and the Bulldog but I sadly predicted this happening after end of bullet buttons and SSE. I'd give them more business but there isn't much for me to buy. Most of my purchases are used firearms.

I rarely bother stopping in anymore especially when I know the hours are sporadic. This is not unique to OC Armory I don't know how some of the smaller more AR oriented shops are surviving.
