I'm going to call the store tomorrow and get more info. The holding my property for 11 days has me pretty irked. I don't mind fixing some paperwork but you can't "hold" my guns. I'll update tomorrow

I just went thru this also. If store mistake on my transaction was fixed, store did it without me giving gun back.
Manager politely called me and I politely agreed to return gun at my convenience but I never received call back from manager agreeing to my terms.
I think store used wrong serial number when they also took gun in on consignment.

If the guns were found to be stolen, if they were in an illegal configuration when sold, if they were sold after some such ban had already gone into force, if they were discovered used in a crime... a whole of reasons would be legitimate to return them or even return to the store.

But for a typographical error, where regardless of that fact, your ID was electronically run through the DOJ's background check mill, your thumbprint is on the form, your utility bill on record, and YOU gave all of YOUR correct info properly? The state got and deemed who you were, the typo meaningless at this point.

Typographical error on forms where all your info was communicated electronically, and the State DOJ approved, only discovered months later, is sand-poundage territory. Block/auto-reject their number from further calls to whatever number they called you at.

I'm getting mellow in my old age so I agree with this. If you don't have a genuine need for these rifles (And only you can determine the level of your need) the cut them a break. It might save somebody's job and they might/should offer you significant compensation for your trouble.

I asked about this and was told due to new changes in CA law they must take possession of the firearms during the "DROS" period.

Tell them they are out of state at your parents.

The manager screwed up by threatening you. While I am normally pretty forgiving when someone makes a mistake, in this case, I'd call his bluff. It's HIS JOB and his store's FFL on the line, not your's. I'd call him back and start negotiating with him about compensating me for my time and the inconvenience that HIS ineptness is causing. I'd threaten to go above his head unless he compensates me for my time and expenses to go to my vacation home in whatever state to retrieve the firearms. I'd make sure he compensates me PRIOR to me bringing the firearms in. If he doesn't, I'd call his bluff and tell him to send DOJ to me so I can tell them that they have ZERO jurisdiction in the state where the firearms are now being stored. As long as the 4473 was properly filled out, the transfer was legal on a Federal level and, if it wasn't properly filled out, the ATF will have major issues with the FFL and not me. In the end, I would bring the firearms in at my convenience and only after I had some fun with the putz who was threatening me.

Don't sweat it, just have some fun with the moron who is threatening you. You have done NOTHING WRONG but, he has and it's his neck on the line, not your's. I'm sure his boss and his boss's boss would like to hear how he has threatened you.

Please note: Only one data field (e.g., make, serial #, and caliber) may be corrected. If more than one field requires a correction, the DROS must be canceled and a new DROS submitted. A DROS must also be cancelled if the firearm is not delivered within 30 days. All correspondence and documentation must be retained for three years for inspection purposes.

They are just too stupid to use the DROS system.

If your Dros went thru, which it did and they let you walk out with your rifles, you are good.

Hopefully you asked for a copy of your approved dros for these rifles and kept it.

Always, always, I mean always without exception, get a copy of your approved Dros for every gun you purchase and keep them.

For all of you who say screw them and let them get in trouble or loose their FFL or pay a fine. Think for just a few seconds how you would feel if it were you who might lose your job or cause the store to get fined or lose their FFL which would probably cost you your job.
I am glad all of you have never made a mistake in your life.
Some of you do not like Dicks but many other people buy from them. This includes me and I would much rather buy from Dicks here in Turlock than a certain Turlock local gun shop that would try to cost you most of your guns in a divorce. Others enjoy their prices especially sales.

So if you do not like Dicks that is fine but remember other do just as other suckers like the local shop here and may not have them try to screw them later.

OP ---Just chill a little and go do the paperwork and I also agree they should give you a $25 gift cert for your "trouble". Think---What if it were my job?
