And now you all know why Walmart doesn't sell guns anymore .
Happened to a few on the same day at the same location , still have the gun too !Bweise says "I have to say the situation was not at all helped by 22 yr old former Airsoft douches who kept touting here, "But possession is not illegal!" "
Fighting on the internet is like being in the special Olympics , everybody wins but your still retarded.

What is the matter with people here???? They made a mistake and they are trying to fix it. NONE of you have ever made a mistake. WE deal with so much BULL**** in California so why be a dick and not cooperate with them. FFL are getting fewer and fewer. I had a serial number recorded wrong because the first number stamped on my gun was stamped VERY light and difficult to even see. The FFL called me and you no what I did?? I did not cry on this forum or screw with the FFL. I went to them the next day along with the firearm and they corrected it. I not ask for them "to make it right" or for free stuff. They make a mistake. This generation is so self entitled and think they need to always "get something". Suck it up butter cups and move along.Comment

My favorite FFL called me in once on a mistake, also. No big deal....accomodated them at my convenience. Sheit happens, they have tight rules and audits. In this case, I didn’t have to take a gun back....but if they asked, I would’ve.
Now, if you have to drive far or take time off work, get some compensation.

Position of a Devil's Advocate-
The FFL doing the DROS will ask the buyer to check the personal information and serial numbers to make sure the firearm is correctly represented and the customer data is properly recorded.
Lots of lines, easy to miss a typo. Both parties, buyer and seller, are charged with making sure the paperwork is right. Right?
I'd ask Dick's to explain the actual mistake, confirm that returning firearm is essential to correct the error and if it weren't my mistake or lack of diligence, hint that some compensation for my time might be in order.
Stomping my feet and hiding my guns in the closet doesn't make me more the man.Sometimes a gun is just a gun.Comment

Have you checked your paperwork to see what info is wrong?

Ive had an ffl screw up a dros before, and guess what happened... nothing.
DROS is a background check
I would likely not help them out, if they were threatening me with DOJ confiscation. Nor would I ever give them access to my guns
OP- really you are posting this is the wrong subforum, post this question in the ffl forum."To preserve liberty, it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms, and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them" - Richard Henry Lee

So i know of a similar situation but what actually happened was DOJ made a mistake and ok"d the stores release of said guns..DoJ rather than recover them themselves asked the store to do the same thing and try to recover the guns...long story short the store did and once it was drosd a second time it turns out the buyer for whatever reason wasnt eligible to own firearms and DOJ had ok"d them my mistake..rather than using their own limited resources they went this route.

Did you make the spelling error, or was it a dicks employee that made the error? Reason I ask is because I’ve purchased firearms at three different dicks locations and each time they had ME enter all the info into their computer. So if a spelling error was made, that would have technically been my error (although they allegedly double check everything before submitting DROS).
Even if it were technically my error, I would require a detailed (and preferably written) explanation of the situation before I would bring back my guns and allow them to hold them for another 11 days.my Benitez goes to 11Comment

Helping them out is one thing when they detail the issue...
When they try a scar tactic of the DOJ coming for them, SCREW them. They lost me.
I would tell them to DETAIL what the issue is... There is no real reason for the guns to be held hostage again on a clerks error. Look over your paperwork. Numbers match with the guns they gave you, they are yours. I am going to bet they gave you someone else's firearm.....'socialism is fine, until you run out of other peoples money'

I had something like this on two separate occasions in two different LGS (not Turners or Dicks). In each case, I just went back and redid the paperwork. One place gave me a box of ammo for my trouble. The other place gave me a heart-felt "thank you."Comment

I'm going to call the store tomorrow and get more info. The holding my property for 11 days has me pretty irked. I don't mind fixing some paperwork but you can't "hold" my guns. I'll update tomorrow"Better to be judged by twelve than carried by six"
