OP:
Could you post this in the FFL forum asking why you need to actually bring the guns in for a re-DROS? If a mistake is made but the DROS goes thru, is it a simple thing to correct or a major deal and truly needs a completely new DROS?
I'd like to hear from actual FFLs their experience.
Twice i've received calls from shops where they made a mistake on their end and simply mailed me the paperwork to sign a correction. Very apologetic and admitted the mistake was theirs. Been a few years and i don't even remember what the mistake was.
AlVarious 1911s.
Some revolvers.
Some rifles.
Back to owning some of those "polymer" guns.

Mistakes regarding your identity, like misspelled name or address, are totally irrelevant to the dros system. It all runs off your id/dl number. If that number, your bday and name are a close enough match, it will get processed as normal. I have had all of my info inputted incorrectly except for DL number and I have never been denied or delayed.
So it's something else that is unrelated to you. Unless they are offering $$$ to fix their problem, I wouldn't go back. And I definitely wouldn't let them hold the guns for another ten days.I hate people that are full of hate.
It's not illegal to tip for PPT!Comment

I agree. I want more gun stores, not fewer. What is the matter with people here???? They made a mistake and they are trying to fix it. NONE of you have ever made a mistake. WE deal with so much BULL**** in California so why be a dick and not cooperate with them. FFL are getting fewer and fewer. I had a serial number recorded wrong because the first number stamped on my gun was stamped VERY light and difficult to even see. The FFL called me and you no what I did?? I did not cry on this forum or screw with the FFL. I went to them the next day along with the firearm and they corrected it. I not ask for them "to make it right" or for free stuff. They make a mistake. This generation is so self entitled and think they need to always "get something". Suck it up butter cups and move along.
Help them out, get free ammo for doing so. Go right to the district manager to explain you want to help, but will not under a BS threat. And tell them you want ammo or a gift card when you drop them back off.
District managers are not clowns.Comment

What I take exception to is the the store threatening the customer (DOJ will come and take your firearms). When they start out with that bull**** i am no longer a customer. What is the matter with people here???? They made a mistake and they are trying to fix it. NONE of you have ever made a mistake. I'm not sure how you know what generation me or anyone else on this forum is associated with. I'm probably older than you are but I can't make that assumption because I don't know you.The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money.Comment

That's the part that got me too. If the guys I deal with made a mistake and asked me to help them out, I'd be there the next day. But they would never pull that DOJ crap.Buy made in USA whenever possible.Comment

I can only speak for myself but the problem is not that Dick's made a mistake, its the GM calling and lying about the DOJ coming for the riffles if he does not comply. That is complete BS.
Had the GM called and been straight up and explained what exactly the problem is and why they are asking that he please return with the firearms then that would be a different story. Be honest, explain to the customer that he is not required by law to return but they would greatly appreciate it if he did. And it would be smart on their part to offer him some ammo or a gift card for the inconvenience.
But based on the OP's post, the GM tried to use a scare tactic and that would really piss me off. Not only would I not go back but I would call corporate and let them know how I felt about the GM's call.
So, I say... screw Dick's and that GM.
OP, if you have a copy of your completed DROS, you should look it over for errors and double check that the serial numbers were recorded correctly.Comment

My time has value. It's unfortunate for you that you feel yours does not. I'm not a charity. My time and my fuel needs to be considered. What if OP had left the rifles at his 2nd home in Las Vegas? Would this request still seem reasonable to you? What would you do in that situation? Do you still think they would need to have the rifles back or do you think they would work with you and just correct the form? What is the matter with people here???? They made a mistake and they are trying to fix it. NONE of you have ever made a mistake. WE deal with so much BULL**** in California so why be a dick and not cooperate with them. I had a similar situation once. This involved a PPT. I was the seller. The FFL told me I had to come in to correct the paper work. This was over 50 miles from where I live. I explained to him that it the same distance for him to drive to me. I explained the he could make an appointment with me and I would be glad to help him fix his mistake at my residence. Suddenly he "found A way" to do it with out me being present.Comment

I would withhold any judgement until the specific issue is known. And we hear from our FFL gurus
