The "Second" was of those two states, which one had the best options for "Not" following California's Gun Control Insanity and Smog Laws.... The bottom line after careful examination and trips to visit favorable areas was, I was better off staying here and getting on with my life. So to those who say "Just Move"...... That is fine if your 20-30 years old and still have a lot of time to work and build a retirement. You can make a mistake and easily recover from it, but its not as easy to recover if your at retirement age or already retired. As always, just my .02.
In total agreement with you, I have looked and continue to look for ways to move out of state but at 50 trying to find some place to go where I can find appropriate work and pay just isn't happening quickly. If I was 20 years younger Id start from scratch somewhere new.

I LOVE the fact you limp wristed Cali gun owners are calling anyone who decides to become an American and move is weaker now...
      HILARIOUS.

The excuses come because people don't really want to go anywhere and their argument is their belief. Stay strong on what you believe! I'm going to die a very HAPPY camper!

I will always continue to support you in California, and spread the word of those hard fighting Californians on the front lines every chance I get. It's because of your efforts that states like Florida are free. If your ever in Florida you have a place at my camp fire, and I am proud to host you at my local range. Good luck and thank you!
I totally agree... This is a pro 2nd web site, but many ppl want to use it as a ***** forum.. Check your negativity at the door. We "Californian's" want more pro gun residents. So move here, register to vote, find a pro CCW county, and I for one welcome you all with open arms.

I think some of you folks may have missed my point, but to each his own. Justifying ones actions is always on them. I was simply offering my perspective on the "JUST MOVE" Mentality. In my case the decision was pretty easy, Give up Paid Healthcare and pay for something I could have for free, plus the cost of moving, just to live some where that the next election may change everything. The fact of the matter is....Nothing Is Forever, and this was presented to me in a rather abrupt way, a long time ago. I'm not going into the details, Its just something everybody needs to realize. This is an ever changing world....Remember......not that long ago OLL and BB was the way to go....look how long that lasted. Again and as always, just my.02.

There are lots of reasons to leave California. Guns are only one.

For example, a move to Texas offered to me recently would double my salary, reduce my cost of living by 30-50%, and eliminate my state taxes. Also I could own whatever gun I want.

That being said, not everyone has that opportunity, or desire to move.

I neither fault those who wish to stay nor those that leave. Bickering over it is silly internet children ****.

I have it good here. Nice beach house, very low mortgage, $1300 per year taxes on a $850,000 property.

Raise those taxes to 5 or 10k and I'm out of here. Otherwise, It's rather nice here in Carlsbad. Beat's blizzards, floods, tornados, deserts and the rest.

I must be giving the impression I really didn't want to move. Believe me.....Nothing could be farther from the truth. I would never spend money visiting potential locations and meeting with Real Estate agents in two different states if I really didn't want to go. My Wife has been trying to get me to go somewhere...anywhere for a vacation for more than a few days for years, and I wouldn't budge. For me to take week's and just go, totally blew her away. I did consider other states, but the bottom line was always going to come back to throwing away the Paid Health Care(part of her retirement package)to relocate. And then going to the two acceptable states only to find out that the gun laws on those two states that were OK, changed to follow California or worse, and the smog laws regarding my cars got stricter, and I have sold my house here and now I'm stuck there wherever that would have been. I wanted to leave California in the 90's, I spent a lot of time looking into Montana and Wyoming, I took newspapers from both places, and the bottom line was don't come without a job. So its not like this is a new concept for me. Great Falls was where I decided to go, but I could not find any work that would support me and my family. So Here I am retired and that's just how life goes. Its just how my life went. Its not to say that any of you can't go if you want to. But always keep in mind....Nothing Is Forever.
