Yep! Lucky or not, the majority of counters are by poorly trained individuals and they usually survive. Frankly, if one uses common sense the odds of every having to draw your EDC in public are fairly small. Thinking about where you are, where you are going, who and what are around you play a huge role in this and while the **** can jump off anywhere at any time, using your head can help drastically minimize the odds of them happening to you.

A square range, stand in one place and shoot a paper target class is a physically demanding event for the overwhelming majority.

You are proposing something out of most peoples range of possibilities. You assume most gun owners are martial artists. They are not.

P.S. You asked what is stopping people. These are the facts. I think these facts are disgusting. They do not describe me. But, they are still the facts.
Which leads one to the concept of "know your target audience. I feel like these folks clear;y do not. 25 or 30 years ago I'd have thrown myself into a course like that, If I could have afforded it. Today I can afford it, but I'm not going to spend that kind of money and likely injure myself doing things I should be doing based on my physical abilities.

I find the whole premise of this thread flawed. The OP thinks he can bully and shame people into training.

There is also the questionable aspect of self promotion.

He asks for opinions and then tells people why they are wrong.

      Losers.

We'd like to address some of the feedback in this thread a little more directly, as it's important to us that we clear up a couple issues/misconceptions that may have arisen.

First off, as a company philosophy, we wholeheartedly agree with the concept of conflict avoidance, and that staying away from a fight is of paramount importance. Situational awareness, and being generally careful and respectful of others is always the first step in keeping out of trouble. We do not encourage aggression. We teach defense and mindset in the event that a scenario turns hostile. Sometimes dangerous predicaments do happen to people, and they may happen at unexpected times. The goal of our classes is to encourage people to have a plan for when things go sour, and to understand the tactical considerations and react efficiently. Even then, in many of our scenarios, we prefer to leave the door open for deescalation (or even running away) as an option. Furthermore, when (simulated) violence does erupt, we discuss the legal and moral ramifications of the participant's decisions at length.

With the above being said, we recognize that intense self defense training is not for everyone. If you own a firearm to use recreationally, or for competition, or simply as a bedside reassurance, we are NOT saying that you are "unprepared" or that you must take a class like ours. People own and appreciate firearms for different reasons, and we're not for everyone. However, we also know that there are folks out there who want to see how they would perform under this type of stress, or who are interested in learning a little bit more about defensive tactics. The purpose of this thread is not to win over people who don't feel like taking a class like ours, it's simply to touch base with those who are on the fence.

We'd like to know more about what you're interested in seeing, and at which price points. If cost is a factor, we can reduce it or offer half day events. If training is a factor, we can adjust. We are a services business, and we find it very important to address the needs of our current and potential clients. This community has had some valuable insights so far, and we will be keeping our ears open.

As we're playing with how to offer something the community will value at an affordable price. What's everyone's thoughts? At that price would there be much hesitation? Thanks in advance!
This is something that I can assure you the wife and I would sign up for. I'll keep my eye on the site to look for updates.

It's not that it's necessarily expensive for what it is. It's that training in general is expensive. Tell you what... I happen to be in a line of work where I could benefit from some additional firearms training. Shoot me your best offer via PM and I'll consider it once I have some money saved up. Obviously, I won't be able to do this every month, but a couple of times a year is feasible.

This thread is a backhanded attempt at selling their school and should be shut down.

You should only use your rifle to get to your handgun then use your handgun to get to your force on force.

One pretty big mistake you're making that hurts conversions is hiding your price on the calendar view.
Adding steps for someone to make a buying decision is likely cutting down your funnel unnecessarily.
Transparency is king. Your pricing seems reasonable to me, I'd list it much more prominently.

"What's preventing you?" Hey, my weekly manies and pedies take up a lot of the weekend (not to mention my Brazillian).

On a more serious note, increasing your market share usually requires multiple marketing approaches. The "are you a man or what?" approach lends itself well to younger shooters and high-testosterone types.

At the same time, you can reach a wider audience by also touting the practical, less aggression-based aspects of your business. Good training is good training!

Best of luck on spreading the word. Will keep you in mind and send business your way should the opportunity ever arise.
A gun is as good or as bad as the man using it.

I would be interested. There's not that many force on force training vs gun shooting classes. Can I still sign up if I don't own a gun anymore? I used to shoot a bunch , but i stopped.
