Sucks but you let it happen, take it as a learning experience and when someone tells to go elsewhere well then do just that.

I couldn't disagree more. It's attitudes like yours and the shops that are the problem.

Congrats for doing the right thing OP.
      Merry Christmas,

        Nobody does anything about it.

OP hasn't come back to comment about contacting DOJ.
9 times out of 10 on these threads, the report is not made because the customer has some kind of misplaced loyalty to the shop.

May or may not be the case this time, but I'd put $5 on it.
Turns out I'd saved the PDF to my cloud drive. Here's a screenshot of a redacted PDF.

Considering they're scamming people and OP is pursuing the issue with the DOJ, something good can actually come from all of this.

This shop may or may not now have Yelp and Google reviews telling potential customers about the ongoing scam, and those reviews may or may not have a link to this thread so people can read the facts and draw their own conclusions. Those reviews may or may not have come from my Yelp and Google accounts. People always Google retailers, and read honest accounts from consumers detailing their interactions with retailers. Most people won't shop at a place that has accounts of scams on their review pages.

Stand up and be counted. Or lay down and be stepped on.

Good On Ya OP, your actions hopefully redress a wrong done, to not just you. But all future customers of the Rip-Off artists.

Yeah, unfortunately these guys are one of the two gun shops in town and neither one is very knowledgeable about the law. Four Seasons up the street is a bit better but charges $40 or $45 for a PPT if I recall correctly. Both charge $100 + tax for other transfers but AFAIK there is no law preventing that.

Neither shop knows about C&R handgun exemptions and gave me the hardest time when I tried to buy one. To make it worse, some of the employees think they know it all and refuse to listen. Thankfully, there are also some good employees just trying to do their job as they were taught (which is unfortunately, not that well).
