Regardless of the creative definitions used to define "ammunition" in the bill, your money will go much further stockpiling online sourced reloading components as opposed to complete ammunition between now and 1/1/2018...

I purchased 6k pulled LC 55gr .224 bullets (actual projectile diameter of .223 Remington/5.56x45mm; important to know the difference when purchasing reloading components, given the sheer amount of variations of ".22" or "9mm" projectiles for different cartridges) for $300+/-, from americanreloading.com ... they came in flawless, despite being pull down projectiles (disassembled factory ammo, parted out), $0.05/per bullet? Awesome.

powdervalley has amazing prices on smokeless powder, 8lb jug of Hodgdon CFE-223 for $152 + flat rate $28.50 shipping (buying in bulk dissipates the high cost of hazmat shipping fees)... I bought a few 8lb jugs of various pistol and rifle powder, even with shipping comes out under price per lb I could find it anywhere locally.

8lb of powder = 56,000 grains, lets say we're reloading an entire jug worth of powder into .223 loads near max charge, so for example 25gr of powder per load = 2240 rounds per jug.

Small rifle primers typically between $27-30 per 1000, can be obtained cheap at powdervalley.com as well, I prefer CCI primers.

If you save and have been saving your brass = free.

Total $$$ for example load per cartridge: $0.05 per bullet, $0.03 per primer, $0.07 per example powder charge, $0.00 per case = $0.15/round.

So you can amass about 2x+ the ammunition in .223 components as opposed to factory assembled (cheapest Ive seen about $0.30/round) for the same amount invested.

I'm still buying factory ammo, but purchasing much higher quantities in components for long term.

    My 2 cents..

I wish I could afford to stockpile ammo like that - not until I have a large safe and my own workshop to store it in.

Also really want to get into reloading but once again no place to do it until I b uy a house.

Get a job site tool box like I did to store ammo.

There are definitions referenced in the bill that only apply to prohibited persons.

My UPS guy is going to need back surgery because of this ammo bill! Stupid, stupid politicians. Probably bought more ammo in the last 4 months than in the last 5 or 6 years.

Sweet. Non-prohibited reloaders are GTG. No-so-much for the prison yard re-loader

I can see it now . . . . bangers selling dime bags of 22lr on the corner
I'd like to know where those corners are, I'm looking.

For now...... Let's see how long they take to get reloading components next.

Probably a good plan to stock up on all cartridges that you don't want to reload (i.e. 22lr). Then start acquiring your components afterwards. Still trying to decide if I should buy powder and primers for shotgun but I rarely shoot skeet anymore. At least we have a year to figure it out.

^ while we may technically have a year and some change left, this is an election year... If Hillary ascends to the throne, reloaders will in the same boat has everyone else for much of 2017.. ammunition shortage and component shortage due to panic.
Primers and powder should be purchased before November, as there's only a handful of manufacturers that produce the stuff, as opposed to projectiles that are produced even by many small companies nationwide.
Bullets, etc projectiles, will still be available albeit not in as wide of a selection or as cheap (with all the sales and promotions on many sites currently).
Powder and primers were just as scarce post '08 election and Sandy Hook as factory ammo was. Projectiles were still available.

I've purchased more ammo/components since June than I have in probably the last 3 years combined.. unfortunately it wont last forever, but 5-6 years worth of what I shoot commonly if conserved... enough to last me till I can make my escape from this damn state.

Have any fruit, vegetables, or ammunition? Don't give them the satisfaction of suffering heartburn. We will oppose them and defy them. Shooters will likely tip the election against HRC and some local CA races.

Wrong. The bill has NO IMPACT on reloading components.

Please go re-read the bill and note the section you are seeing is only applicable to prohibited persons.
