In order to be bomb squad you have to know how to build bombs. Every EOD guy I know can build bombs fairly simply. I'm sure they just used something improvised on the guy.

If you are outraged or upset about the police using an explosive device to kill the Dallas shooter, your collective feelings and a dollar will probably buy you a cup of coffee.

Term it any way you want, but cops using c4 to neutralize a suspect is downright disturbing.

I don't give a rip the circumstance, yes this sniper just killed and wounded many cops - fellow brothers, but that in no way give the responders the authority to be the investigator, prosecutor, judge, jury, and executioner at will.. regardless of how apparent or blatant the evidence is.

To me the "no other option" is complete bullsh*t. They could have let that crazy a**h**** starve/dehydrate - that would have been fine. But instead they chose to impose their own will to end his life - That is wrong.

For those who say "good riddance", do you understand what excessive force is? What now separates cops from the military except the fact that cops primarily deal with US citizens while military deals with foreign enemies. Do you really want to blur those lines?

Does anyone understand due process? Does anybody understand the rights of a citizen of the United States?

Katrina happened under Bush, imagine if it happens under Hillary, in a blue state. How would you feel about martial law - cops with c4 - flushing your family out of your home.

What's the difference between a robot and drone?

F***ing slippery slope boys... I wouldn't give up our freedoms so easily. This new precedence is very disturbing, regardless of right/wrong.
ok, lets play devils advocate for a second here. say you were there, you were a man on the swat team that made the choice for your fellow swat members to wait out the subject.

the subject yells out that he is surrendering, walks out, swat members move in and then the suspect detonates a vest he had been wearing.

what would you feel in that situation? would you feel stupid that you didnt end the threat to you and your officers in the most prompt matter possible? no, probably not as you would be dead or seriously wounded from the blast.

lets not be stupid here, we are at war with extremism. the sooner our law enforcement terminates this threat, the sooner we civilians can start to lead normal lives.

Would you be whining if a Police sniper had simply been able to get into a position, and shot the terrorist to death?

Would that have made you happier?

Due process is for suspect who surrender... When they refuse, and constitute a deadly threat to officers they can be stopped with what ever means are "reasonable" based on that situation....

In this situation it was a pound of C4 delivered by a robot...

I wish they'd washed his room with a flame thrower. The C4 was being nice as far as I'm concerned.

It's not like they used an "Obama drone" and carpet bombed the block.

LEO's don't take cop killers likely, and rightly so.

Officer Johnny 5 served up some justice IMHO.

That is what I said as well. I wonder what everyone would have been complaining about if he was shot with a rifle, a cross bow or a sling shot. That is a totally mute point. I am sure no one would have questioned the cop's having and use of c4 to blast/breach a steel door if their kids were trapped in the basement and flood waters rising.

Lets leave out the fact that this scum bag was hell bent on shooting LEOs. A guy take guns and starts shooting people on the street. The cops come around and ask him to put down his arms and come out (more than a fair offer if you asked me). The perp shoots at the cops and yells out that he is going to kill more. That, there ends the niceties extended to all perps because of Due Process. The situation just shifted from going to trial and facing your accusers, right to attorney, etc., to a fight for life on the very spot.
In this case or any other shooter or hostage taker case, Why do we need to or have to negotiate any further ?? or send him fresh Orange Juice or other crap and wait??!!
The officer(s) on the spot have the choice on how to take him out. Not that any one gets a joy of doing that but that is their job. They can use anything they have in the armory. I could not care less if they used a Bazooka or an Anti Tank gun to shoot him through the cement walls. He is deservedly just as dead and we did not loose any more innocent people.

I dont think too many care the scumbag is dead, I don't, saves taxpayer's tons of money.

But the issue of how he got dead is an entirely different thing. This precedent could have unintended consequences far more serious than the Dallas shooting alone.

How long till these government robot bombs are breaching our homes to neutralize us in order to confiscate our arms? Or countless other scenarios where any perceived danger may be present.

There is no issue....dead is dead.

Now, if you're talking about confronting the citizens with any kind of lethal force, whether it's a swat team, or a robot, when it's not warranted? Well, no one can say it wont happen in the future. That's what the 2nd amendment is all about.

Until then, if someone is the kind of threat that the shooter in Dallas was, I say use whatever is needed...swat team, sniper, robot or even a drone.

Hell, now we could draw him out using Pokemon Go, and before he knew it he would be in custody....

I can see how the use of the explosive device looked excessive from the point of view of folks watching it on TV while lounging on the couch in their favorite onesie with a bowl of ice cream on their lap.

I prefer to leave it to the police who are actually there dealing with the problem to decide what is reasonable or in the best interests of public safety.
