I shoot at least twice a month at the local indoor range or outdoor range. I've never had a stranger axe to shoot my guns, nor have I ever axed a stranger if I could shoot theirs. Maybe people just find me unapproachable ??? !!!

I probably wouldn't let strangers shoot my guns, but it depends on the totality of the circumstances.

A calgunner Mac attack let me shoot his K-31. I fell in love with it. Two weeks later I bought one. I never had a problem letting others shoot my firearms. In fact I have gotten a lot of free once fired brass because of it.

That frickin' Beetle Bailey did the same thing to me. I was bit hard by the K31 bug after I shot his.

Folks have offered me to shoot theirs before. Some I helped out, newbee's with AR's.

So far no one has asked to shoot my guns.

I was at the range this weekend tuning my 3 gun rifles and let the kid next to me shoot it. He was shooting and m4orgery and his buddy's ak clone. He was shocked at how little my gun recoiled compared to his and the smaller group size. We had a good talk about how a rifle works and why you should choose parts that fit your needs rather than what you read about on the Internet.
I let beginning shooters on the pistol line shoot my 22s all the time, especially if the are struggling with centerfire small guns with bad recoil.

I can be fairly social at the range and have swapped guns with people in a lot of range trips. Just to name a few:

Last time I was at the range, a guy brought a DP12 and we were talking about it during a ceasefire and asked if I wanted to shoot it. I did and it was a lot of fun.

The time before than me and another guy swapped AR15s. After that he brought me over a Stoeger M3K and a CZ Tac Sport in 40 to try.

The time before that me and another guy swapped Remington 700s, we were both shooting 6.5 CMs but wanted to try eachothers stocks. I had AI, IIRC he had Manners.

A few times before that I noticed some young guys, probably 18 or 19 eyeballing my Tavor so I let em shoot it. Also had an old customer of my boss I ran into let me shoot his Nighthawk. Had another time with a newbie, another 18 or 19 y/o guy, having problems with his AR so I gave him a box of ammo because his rounds were bad reloads.

I've let RSOs shoot my PMR30, SCAR, FAL and more that I cant remember.

Someone took his ball and went home. You sound like an Arrogant snot, looking down on other peoples guns. I think my cheapest gun is worth more to me than your Daniels Defense AR with crappy EOTech, and whoop-dee-do you have a CZ. Can you actually hit what you are shooting at with them?

As far as people shooting my guns, I have taught many new shooters and also the Curious people at the range. Nothing beats the smile on a young kid who is a WW2 buff getting to shoot the guns he has read about. Hell I was the same way first time I got to shoot a Garand

Last time I was out in the desert there was a large group of us shooting. A guy and his girlfriend who were cruising by stopped and asked if they could watch. "Sure" and after a while of BS'ing he pulled out his Nighthawk Custom 1911 with Trijicon micro reddot and says "here try this". First time I ever got to shoot one of those, probably one of the nicest guns I've ever shot.

I don't mind letting people shoot my guns. One time out at hodge a few Danish tourists came up and asked to watch while we were shooting. We all struck up conversation and when they said they were from Denmark we all offered to let them shoot. It was a father and son and they were amazed about how we could own ak variants and ar15s. The son loved shooting an ak and glock. The dad loved shooting the 1911 and m1 carbine. We also took the time to explain the idiotic California laws, to which they agreed were stupid but not as strict as Denmark. In the end he gave us some bomb chocolate. And recently, about last month, I had a guy ask me about my dissipator I was zeroing because he wanted to build one. I offered to let him shoot a mag to make sure he liked the system before he invested but he declined. Were all ambassadors in this sport so I tend to be nice and let other people try my stuff out, it normally turns into them returning the favor.

I was at an outdoor range recently and some group of strangers 5 of them in their late 20s. One came over and asked if he can shoot my DD M4A1 w/ eotech combo. I kindly let him knowing their group only had a XD in 9mm and a cheap 22 rifle. After that one after another came over and asked the same thing. My DD was brand new and i was there to get the eotech zero in only. I saw each one put their face on the stock and regretted it immediately. They did offer their guns for me to shoot, but come on. I have my highy modified CZs with me also. I wasn't in the mood to shoot their cheap guns so I declined. Now looking forward, I will politely turn down request to shoot my guns if they don't have anything decent for me to shoot in return. So, what would u do if strangers ask to shoot yours?.

I don't worry about reciprocity. If someone shows an interest in a gun of mine, I'll almost always offer to let them shoot it. Now, the number of rounds that I may give them may vary, but usually 5-10 rounds is enough to allow for someone to get a feel for a particular gun. If they, in return, offer a gun that I'm interested in shooting that's just a bonus.

I think that allowing others to shoot your guns is somewhat customary, and is a nice way to foster "friendliness" at the range.

I have let some people shoot my rifles before. A while back at Angeles a young pre-teen was with his father and they were admiring my M1A and a few other battle rifles from a distance. I asked the father if his son would like to shoot some of them of which the boy became excited and was actually a good shot. They offered me to shoot one of their 10/22 rifles of which I already shot before since it seems like everyone has one but I didn't want to be rude. I just remember how proud he was of his rifle (his first from what the dad said) and he wanted to return the favor and trusted me with it.

I guess what I am trying to say it is not a bad thing to let others enjoy what you have but it is your call and depends on the situation. But, to make fun of their weapon by calling it cheap is low since that maybe the only thing they can afford or just got started.

I would share my gun if the other guy was willing to share his. If his gun sucks but hes at least friendly about it I would turn down using his but still let him shoot mine. But if hes clearly just a moocher, nah go pound sand you Bernie voter

Someone strikes up a conversation with me about one of my guys it means to me that they wanna shoot it which I have no problem letting them run a few rounds of mine through. I've shot an ar 15 pistol, desert eagle, ksg, kahr that way except I was the person who started up a conversation with them. I always try to reciprocate and ask if they wanna shoot what ever I'm shooting.
