Fearmongering on this thread, not only by retailers but by anti-Obama paranoid gunowners and those who are buying into this hype.

They said the housing market wouldn't collapse, either. Eventually the fantasy of an everlasting demand will give-in and those who are buying things for double their 2-month-ago price will pay a heavy cost.

    Just IMO, of course.

Doubtful. Nobody takes out a 30-year jumbo mortgage to buy an OLL.

Some people have paid a few hundred more for a rifle than they would have had they bought pre-Obama. Not a big deal.

What bothers me is that at some point supply will catch up to demand and soon after there will be an excess of inventory - of poorly QC'd goods, manufactured in a hurry - that will take some time to work its way through the distribution and retail channels. Of course, that only bothers me because it can directly affect me.

Where the hell do you shop?

I was just at local shop and they had EVERY "self defense" shotgun they normally have in stock minus the Benelli M4.

I don't mean 1 or 2, I mean they had about 8 different types of "home defense" shotguns all on the shelf.

I hope you are right about our paranoia but I doubt it Those of us that got caught looking and got screwed when Clinton did his damage, are investing just in case. Better to buy now than get stuck with nothing. I believe that we have some bad federal gun legislation coming from the dems before the year is out.

how many different distributors are there, there can't be only 1 that everyone seems to go thru. how about direct dealer sales? gun dealers did this back in 94' to drive up the price of everything because they are gettin while the gettin is good. of course it is at the expense of suckers like the panic buyers. i am waiting until after shot show to finish my buying. i should have a big settlement check by then. i am not at all worried. kind of sounds like the deal about the 5.7 pistol, quick, hurry up and get them because they are going to be banned, didn't you see that video of the bullets going thru the vest, think about the kids, i mean law enforcement.

Everyone is out of just about everything. All the wholesalers are out of AR15s, M1As, many semi-auto pistols, and more. The only ones coming in are then being spread to the now 10 fold increase of dealers at all levels who are scrambling to meet the high demand. We have gone over this in past threads.

You can also go dealer direct on certain lines. For big time, brand name manufacturers, they do distributor only. Most of the AR15 guys are vendor direct but as I stated before, Stag is quoting six months on rifles and uppers, LMT is quoting 16-20 months minimum, Armalite is no longer taking phone calls nor giving time frames, I didn't ask CMMG what to expect, and RRA is still 12-20 weeks.

I guess people still don't get it. Dealers can't make this crap up. There is nothing left to buy. I certainly understand the desire for the demand to decrease here shortly and people to move along, but with that kind of wait times, and with BHO still not even in office, I think that is some mighty wishful thinking.

Time will tell. So far the November predictions of "give this two months" are now wrong. We can re-evaluate the current "two more months" evaluations in two months.

If you ask me, "two months!" is the new "two weeks!".

And for those of you aren't thinking about it, we are still waiting for the original two weeks now three years later.

There is NO way things will be back to pre-election status in the next 6 months.

This is crazy. Have you noticed if your customers are new to the EBR thing or are they current gun owners?

Many, many newbies mixed in with some guys I haven't seen in a while buying some more "while they still can". There definitely are some who aren't buying anything and are glad they got them when they could too.

I have sold 30 Kaiser Defense lowers in the last 8 days. That is not normal.

While I agree that demand currently outweighs supply, it is not impossible to build a complete rifle nowadays. You just have to know where to look, put in a little effort, and be persistent. I started my build during Thanksgiving week of 2008 and completed it last week--a timespan of a little over a month. It would have been done a week sooner, but I was waiting for Magpul to release MOE midlength handguards and their MBUS rear sights. I gave up on that so I purchased other parts which were readily available.

Here's a short summary/chronology of what I bought and where. Keep in mind I never paid over MSRP (at the time) except for magazines because of California's laws surrounding capacity limits.

                                1. Lower -- Kaiser Defense at a local shop ($189). They required a bullet button purchase at the time too.

                                2. LPK -- RRA at PKFirearms.com, ($70). For this, if you ever see it on their website, it means it's in stock.

                                3. Stock -- Magpul UBR at GlobalTactical.com, ($265). You can get much cheaper ones that are just as nice--VLTOR comes to mind--but my arms are freakishly long and this gave me the most comfortable and consistent cheek weld.

                                4. Upper -- BCM 16" Midlength ($449), BCM BCG ($130), and charging handle ($20) from GandRTactical.com. One of the best uppers you will find. I actually got lucky with this, I checked the website just as more stock was being entered in the system. Sold out a couple minutes after submitting my order. You can e-mail Grant to be put on their waiting list. Another option is to buy directly from Bravocompanyusa.com directly. They have a notification system that will e-mail you automatically when an item is in stock. Enter in the e-mail address that corresponds to your cell phone's text messaging address. Bravo Co sent me a text last week, and their uppers sold out about 2 hours later.

                                5. Magazines -- CProducts 10/20 from CALegalMags.com ($24 ea at the time). Magpul PMag 20 and 30 round rebuild kits from AR15.com Equipment Exchange (< $24 shipped ea). I first bought a PMag off a Calguns member for $37, but I was naive at the time. Now I cringe when I see them go for $40+ here. AR15.com EE has these up for sale all the time, and for much lower prices. Most sellers will disassemble them and ship to CA residents as rebuild kits. Just send them a polite PM and ask. After you receive them, buy some plastic coat hangers from Target or Bed Bath and Beyond that have an approximate 3/8" diameter (< $7 for 12), some plastic epoxy from Ace Hardware ($3), and rebuild your PMags to permanent 10 rd capacity. Just takes a little elbow grease to cut/sand the hangers to proper length, and a day for the epoxy to fully cure. Much better than paying $15 more per mag.

                                6. Misc stuff like handguards/rails, rear back up sights, Magpul MIAD pistol grips, enhanced trigger guards, etc. This stuff you can buy from sites like Brownells or Midwayusa. Find someone with a C&R license to buy stuff for you and get an even better discount.

Hopefully this helps some of you still waiting on parts. Dont put all your eggs in one basket. Always be on the lookout, send polite e-mails and PMs, and be persistent.
