How much precaution is necessary for cleaning?

Come on, the smell is part of the whole Ritual of Gun Cleaning.

I keep a window open, and have moved from the Dining Room out to the back covered patio where I leave a window open.

If you have Glocks, you won't have to clean them as often

1. Recently I began to use Aveeno generously on my hands before beginning, although there are industrial grade "sealants" you can buy.

2. Rubber gloves interfere with dexterity/manipulating small parts.
The thinner ones tear quickly.

The blue Nitrile gloves are much more durable & don't tear...until you use Gun Scrubber. I always replace them before lubing.

I clean mine in the garage with the roll-up about 1' up and the back door open

I clean on my kitchen table. I use a few newspapers to protect it and use all Slip 2000 products, no smell, non-toxic. Wife never knows...

I'm adverse to poisons here.
