I don't mean the observation of gun safety rules, those should always be observed. This is about proper ventilation when using harsh chemicals etc. What do you normally do when you are cleaning firearms?

i have a backyard.... no way i'm cleaning my guns out in the front yard.
i live within 100 yards of a elementary school with my street being one of the access roads. i would have swat banging on my door if i cleaned my guns in the front yard...Originally posted by leelawBecause -ohmigosh- they can add their opinions, too?Originally posted by SoCalSig1911Preppers canceled my order this afternoon because I called them a disgrace... Hoppe's #9 does have a strong odor. I can see wearing gloves, and using a fan and an open window and disposing/cleaning the soaked rags outside. Some other cleaners don't have the harsh odor.
I've heard that some people suggest using Simple Green to clean guns, but I haven't heard what the experts/gunsmiths have to say about that. It doesn't have a toxic odor, but I don't know how well it removes lead and copper or what it does to your gun. I'd be interested to see what suggestions other calgunners have.Comment

I switched to M-Pro 7 and clean them in my basement. No ventilation due to freezing temps outside right now. The guns I shoot most get a more thorough cleaning with Hoppes in the summer when I can sit out on the back deck.Originally posted by MezcalfudBecause a Glock looks great in the case and then when you take it home it feels like you're holding a Costco pack of Kielbasa.Comment

We already have the only reasonable Gun Control we need, It's called the Second Amendment and it's the government it controls.
