I clean mine with the garage door and windows open. Still. Even after one of my douche neighbors called the PD on me.
It was not a threat. It was an exaggerated response to an uncompromising stance. I was taught never to make a threat unless you are prepared to carry it out and I am not a fan of carrying anything. Even watching other people carrying things makes me uncomfortable. Mainly because of the possibility they may ask me to help.

Hoppes Elite works ok, less potent odor.

I've never used any precautions with any gun cleaning stuffs.
Which probably explains the half-melted brain.

Lately I've been using Frog Lube. Coincidence?

Just a footnote, the guys at Battlefield Las Vegas use Simple Green in ultrasonic cleaners, although it's because they have serious waste disposal/gummint problems to deal with.
I meant, it is my opinion that...

It does leave your breath minty-fresh, however.

              So does Simple Green

Seriously... when I worked for an auto parts store, right after the stuff came out, I would demonstrate the non-toxic property by brushing my teeth with it.

WTH, I *would* still have a perfect, full set of filling-free teeth today at 52 had I not made the mistake of listening to a Western Dental butcher who insisted that I needed 8 molars filled.

My trainer did caution against actually *drinking* it because of a mild laxative effect.

When I was young I used to go camping with my parents who belonged to some Gold Prospectors camping club. One dude, 90+, drove his RV out every weekend. Guy lost his nose to cancer, but he put a band aid over it and smoked a pack a day easy. Pretty sure he and the misses drank like fishes too. Other than that the guy was healthy as could be. Drove his RV fine, unpacked/packed all his by himself (though everyone tried to help), he was always helping people fix and set up their equipment. Crazy - but just because this guy is still alive think of all the people that aren't because of those habits!

That being said I try to wear gloves and have a window open. Plus by wearing gloves it reduces the amount of finger oil that gets on my gun and increases cleaning time. Harm reduction is something I always try to do.

What do you guys think of foaming cleaning? I have been using Gunslick foaming bore cleaner and I must say I like it. Use it and a boresnake and my barrel comes out nice n clean everytime. Though I will admit I only put 100 - 200 rounds of non-steel ammo through my M4, so probably not getting it that dirty to begin with.

I use bacon grease exclusively for firearms cleaning and lubricating. That means that every bullet that comes out of that gun has a little swine on it. Tell that to the durka durkas, they'll never want to take the chance of getting hit with a bacon laced round.

Well ventilated area plus gloves. Lots and lots of gloves.

The fate of the wounded rest in the hands of the ones who apply the first dressing.

I do wear gloves. It's more of a convenience (getting some gun oils off your hands can be challenging) but originally I started because mpro-7 strips so much oil out of my skin my hands feel weird/dry/flaky after.

Usually outside, I have a workbench on a covered patio right off the garage so air compressor, tools, etc. are all right there, outdoor speakers with some nice gun-cleanin' music on...

Sometimes in the bedroom at my desk. Bedroom is pretty big and there's a sliding glass door right next to the desk so ventilation is good.

Generally don't wear gloves, only because I have no manual dexterity with gloves on.

                              Like the Smell

Come on, the smell is part of the whole Ritual of Gun Cleaning.

I keep a window open, and have moved from the Dining Room out to the back covered patio where I leave a window open.

If you have Glocks, you won't have to clean them as often

                              1. Recently I began to use Aveeno generously on my hands before beginning, although there are industrial grade "sealants" you can buy.

                              2. Rubber gloves interfere with dexterity/manipulating small parts.
                              The thinner ones tear quickly.

                              Enjoy

I just leave the garage door open and get to work.
I've never seen an American flag burned at a gun show.
