I have to go through a background check when I purchase a firearm, I don't see why someone else should be exempt just because they live in a free state. I get the counter-argument about incremental encroachment but I see this as a common sense approach. If you can pass a background check then no worries.

i pass the background checks but this will effect 100s of thousand people.veterans for one every veteran has some sort of anxiety or depression from various situations.omonkey wants mental health records to be a part of his E.O.this goes against the right of doctor patient relations.Drs are bound to keep everything quiet about you.I suffer from anxiety and depression and my psych is fine with me owning guns.he put it to me this way i trust you and you have given me no reason to think otherwise.you help other vets and you despise suicide or murder and have told me what you think of suicide.that made me feel good and i now have to buy a new safe because i can barely fit all my guns in it.i do competition shoots and both my primary care dr likes it because i exercise and the psych likes it because it keeps me from depression and anxiety.this is what omonkey wants the right to strip us of our rights.do you want the govt looking at your medical records i dont even the military has to get a court order to get your records.So if you want gun control this is it and if we dont stop it only criminals will have guns.Sorry to the other cgers for rambling but its just my 2 cents thanks all

But to pretend that gun owners are a group of people persecuted for their religion/race is beyond stupid. Agreed 1000000% sure I can pass a bg check and have numerous times. Its not about that. Its about the govt. Infringment on the people to buy and sell their private property. Regardless of whether or not mandatory bg checks are in place for the entire nation, do you really think that's going to stop criminals from obtaining guns??

Its not having the opposite effect, its panic buy because the people feel the infringing of their rights. Its having the exact effect infringement of ones rights should have. The same effect the Cali 2000 Assault weapons ban had. I am sure lots of people registered those assault weapons they bought in the panic
