I have to go through a background check when I purchase a firearm, I don't see why someone else should be exempt just because they live in a free state. I get the counter-argument about incremental encroachment but I see this as a common sense approach. If you can pass a background check then no worries.

So using your reasoning, I guess that we can also assume that you don't have any problem with California's gun laws and believe that they should be adopted nationwide? After all, why shouldn't people in other states have to live under the same restrictive laws that you do.

They didn't want all the small time FFL dealers that applied back in the 70's and 80's. They didn't want those thousands of people who sold a few guns a year to be able to have guns shipped straight to their house. Now all of a sudden if you sell a few guns at a show you're "in the business" and need an FFL. What's next, "Yes, you can get an FFL but you need to be making most of your income in the gun business to qualify." You can't have it both ways. If they expect anyone to comply they HAVE to nail down some criteria for what "in the business" means. 10 guns, 20 guns, whatever it is. You can't comply with a law that has no definition.

Basically, he doesn't want "weekend warriors" setting up at gun shows without being licensed and doing background checks on buyers. His order directs ATF to enforce already existing law which has been overlooked on many occasions as they don't have enough agents to troll the shows. That will change with more agents being hired. He can't change the law although his big-eared conference implied that he did. At least Biden thought so.

If he'd said that gun owners are being persecuted, fine or that gun owners are being targeted, fine. But to pretend that gun owners are a group of people persecuted for their religion/race is beyond stupid.
