Yeah, that's pretty weak. Metal detectors at Disneyland has been inevitable, but to go full Progressive retard and ban toy guns... at freaking Disneyland... where the two most popular themes are Pirates of the Caribbean and Star Wars is both sad and stupid.

Agreed. There are too many people here and other places that feel the need to let everyone know how "Billy badass" they are by telling us all they are carrying. I'm not sure what part of "concealed" these people don't get.

I always leave my side arm locked in the car when I go. It's temping to carry inside the park given the current events.

Ya...but just maybe Disney is one of the few places where you could feel reasonably safe as compared to other public places that are gun free. That is assuming the comments from "those who know" are well founded.

Blurb on the morning news states that Disney will be installing metal detectors at all of their parks. They are also discontinuing sale of toy guns in the park and people over 14 will no longer be allowed to wear costumes.

They must have been reading this thread....

I was almost assaulted at Disneyland once. Immediately after a parade in a huge crowd of people, shoulder to shoulder, some guy started screaming profanity and names at me. He was accusing me of elbowing his grandkids (they were bumping into me during the parade) and acting in a threating / intimidating way. I stayed calm and tried to de-escalate. 5 seconds after this guy started yelling at me, in a huge crowd of people, he was surrounded by plain clothes security, Disney branded security, and I was asked if I was ok by another branded park employee. It was almost surreal how quickly they snatched that guy and his whole family up and how quickly they disappeared. Didn't see them for the rest of our time there.

I believe all the insider info in this thread because of my experience there.

That's just pitiful. Some of my favorite memories of Disney were the pirates of carribean cap guns (that had to be checked when we flew home) and the (now gone) shooting positions on Tom Sawyer Island. My assumption is that the shooting galleries are also gone? - Might as well just tear down frontier land and replace it with "Frozen land" or something.

True story - my aunt was head of internal security at the park late 70s through mid 80s - she was ex cia. Most of the senior security are ex (retired) govt. cia and fbi employees - they are very good at unseen security and not messing with the experience of the park for the public. There is a large amount of undercover "visitors" all through the park at all times and a pretty substantial behind the scenes infrastructure of security there.

The shooting galleries are still there surprisingly. Word is that the shooting positions on Tom Sawyer were removed not because they were "promoting gun violence", but because a little girl got a part of her finger cut off in a pinch point on the base of one of the guns.

Actually the blockhouse was closed off after a child lost part of a finger on one of the rifles after falling.
