    Where on earth do you store all these thousands of rounds of ammo?
    5K shotgun shells is 20 cases. and others advocate 10K per caliber
    You're going to need a barn
    These are some serious space demands even for a homeowner. How is some apartment dweller supposed to stash the numbers?

      There is an area of the house that is mine to do as I wish. My wife gets the rest of the house.

      I use ammo cans for most. Spam cans and shotgun ammo are different. The spam cans stay unopened and stacked neatly on a section of the shelf. The 12 and 20 gauge have 1K in an large very heavy ammo can on the floor and the remaining boxes stacked on top of the cans and the shelves.

      I use blue masking/painters tape and a sharpie to label everything. This way if I choose to stop storing a caliber I can easily repurpose the ammo can to something else.

      Like I said, it takes time to build up. It will not happen overnight unless you are rich.

      It has taken me years to obtain the collection and ammo quantities I have.

      You don't need a barn either. A standard room or a side of the garage or even a stand alone weather proof shed will do just fine. But a barn or a nice shop would be awesome.

        I don't hoard ammo as a rule, but I'm in the process of stocking up on reloading components now that there seems to be a lull between elections and other crises. Stuff that has been unavailable for years is now generally available in decent quantities. I try to stick to one or two powders for pistol and one or two for rifle. I stay with the most common calibers: 38/357, 44spl/mag, 9mm, .45 acp, 5.56 & 7.62. I've accumulated buckets of brass over the years.

        The only thing I can't reload is .22lr and I'm in the process of cornering the market on CCI Mini-Mags.

        Being north of
        70 has definite advantages: I was able to do all my stupid stuff before video cameras, smartphones, utube, and the internet.

          Cornering the Market? I'm up to 10,000 Minimags before I figured I had enough!
          TURNING and turning in the widening gyre
          The falcon cannot hear the falconer;
          Things fall apart; the centre cannot hold;
          Mere anarchy is loosed upon the world,
          The blood-dimmed tide is loosed, and everywhere
          The ceremony of innocence is drowned;
          The best lack all conviction, while the worst
          Are full of passionate intensity.

            I did the same thing on my Honda generator. I bought a conversion kit from Century Fuel Products. Here is their site: Honda Generator Propane Conversion Kits Check them out!
