It would be hard enough to keep my family safe without having to deal with some Captain Ahab wannabe trying to go down with the ship every five seconds whilst screaming "**** the law!"
This is exactly what the thread is about. Do you know what a riot is and how they can escalate out of control? The 1992 riots left many business owners without any chance of police assistance for 4 days while a mob roamed and pillaged and burned many buildings down. Some were attacked, dragged out of their vehicles or businesses and beat within an inch of their life. Some good people were smart and got their guns, got on the roof and defended their life and property.

So tell me penal code genius, how would you dissuade a mob of guys with incendiaries from burning down a building you occupy during a riot? You going to offer your wife, daughter, other female family member to appease them? You going to throw cash at them? You going to dissuade them by discussing penal codes? Maybe you run away weeping? Okay, good for you. Just don't expect everyone to take such a kind attitude towards rioters with intent to harm.

    Unreal. I love California.

Sure buddy. From my experience the big talkers are usually chumps. The real deal dudes don't say much. Get in where you fit in.

Okay Mr. silent but deadly, good for you. You going to participate or just pretend how cool you are being the silent type?

Discussing what you might do here is about the same as saying practicing/training on targets at the range or participating in 3-gun competitions is akin to "premeditation". - No; internet discussion of an unknown is not "premeditation" and would likely be tossed.

The guy "that laid in wait" was planning a murder, and that was a good portion of the only "premeditation" needed. Lying in wait is anticipating a situation where you are specifically planning the outcome of killing someone.

Me facing the unexpected situation of someone throwing Molotov Cocktails at my home with me in it, will face the muzzle end of any firearm I may have within reach, in order to get them to stop from doing that life-threatening action.
Repeatedly posting on the web about how you are going to blow people away without a second thought can be used by an overly aggressive liberal DA as food for a Grand Jury that you were itching to kill someone and did so instead of reacting in a way that would have prevented a death. IE: That you laid in wait hoping for a chance to fulfill your dream and then shot some peaceful protesters that mistakenly entered the building as a means to escape the violence on the street (the DA's words not mine). Now whether or not they get a guilty verdict is moot and the person's life is ruined.

Also the whole "Molotov Cocktail" thing isn't what the OP asked in the beginning of this thread. It was added later by people looking to brag about how bad $$$ they are.

Just don't expect me to embrace such idiocy because I don't want to be witness to the death of people I care for. Maybe you can make sure you have your Hilary Clinton 2016 sign in your front yard and they'll show you mercy.
Actually from your replies it's obvious that you do NOT get what I am saying. So you go right ahead and protect the people that you care about (and brag to the reporters after about how the thugs got exactly what was coming to them for daring to challenge you) and then leave your family defenseless from retribution while you rot in jail, because you were unable to do it the smart way.

It really seems the whole Molotov Cocktail and mobs attacking comments have only been added to the OP's thread so that some can thump their chests and show us their visible abs.

Ok Ok. Let me help here. Assuming arguendo, we are in communistfornia. If you are a minority (one that owns a business aka Asian or white), and you happen to be at your property, you have the right to defend yourself. If you are white, you don't.

Bragging to reporters? is that what the Hilary Clinton supporters you hang out with dream of doing after a riot?

As for incendiaries being used by mobs, they are used regularly. Have you had your head in the sand for 25 years?

                            For reference:

I saw mentioned in one story a shopkeeper standing in front of his store in Baltimore with a shotgun. I know during the LA riots, some Korean shopkeepers protected their stores with rifles on the rooftops.

As far as I know, there are no exceptions to the open carry laws even during a riot. Is this a case where law enforcement will understand and not charge you? Or should you expect to be prosecuted afterwards?

For the sake of argument, lets say someone is brazen enough to try to break your windows and steal your things right in front of you as you are holding a shotgun. What do you do then? Would it matter if you are in front of your house or your business?

Please show me where in the OP there was any mention of someone trying to set your house/family on fire? Yes, he mentions rioting but that wasn't mentioned in his hypothetical. Simply that someone is standing guard and someone breaks in and steals something in front of you.

I've never claimed that one cannot or should not use deadly force to protect themselves or their loved ones. I simply stated that using deadly force for the purpose of protecting property is entering a gray area at best for those who don't want to be incarcerated. Then furthermore, if you are of the mind to use deadly force against someone and you then have to answer for those actions, making statements like the ones you made, isn't going to increase your chances in a court that might already be stacked against you depending on where you live.

What's with the penal code thing? Where did I cite any penal codes in this thread? I will submit that I'm well versed in them, but that's kind of comes with the territory of my job....Straws....Grasping... Something along those lines?

Since you've now actually asked about what I might do in such a situation rather than superimposing your feelings and beliefs on the OP, I would use whatever force was necessary to end the threat. Just like I would if someone broke into my house in the middle of the night or if I were accosted walking out of the grocery store. The point is, I'm notgoing around making silly statements like "**** the law, I'm dropping bodies."

Take issue with my comment on your post if you want. That's your right, but it's doesn't mean I'm wrong. If you feel better having your attitude, that's cool, but it isn't going to change my mind.

No where did the OP mention them in his question. You and others added that in to justify your boasting about how willing you are to start shooting people.
