I saw mentioned in one story a shopkeeper standing in front of his store in Baltimore with a shotgun. I know during the LA riots, some Korean shopkeepers protected their stores with rifles on the rooftops.

As far as I know, there are no exceptions to the open carry laws even during a riot. Is this a case where law enforcement will understand and not charge you? Or should you expect to be prosecuted afterwards?

For the sake of argument, lets say someone is brazen enough to try to break your windows and steal your things right in front of you as you are holding a shotgun. What do you do then? Would it matter if you are in front of your house or your business?
If it's your business, unless your life is in danger, you're gonna get the book in CA. If it's in your house, to me any uninvited person in my house who has broken in is a threat to my life, I do not know their intentions or their capabilities to harm me or my family, and thus I am going to be afraid for my life/my families life... I'm not a lawyer.

In a true riot situation where my life, my property and the lives of others with me are in jeopardy I will have no problem exercising my right to "Obtain Safety" by the use of a legally owned and possessed firearm.

IF you are not willing to pull the trigger in defense of your life and property then you probably shouldn't own a gun
If you use deadly force to ONLY protect your property, you are going to have a problem.
Now if you have that imminent threat of great bodily harm or death while protecting that property, then you should be good. That is, as good as you can be for taking a life.
I'm not saying to run away, but the D.A's office will look if there was any chance to avoid using deadly force.

During a riot a real bad *** would be using a bow and arrow.

Just for the record, the California penal code defines the crime of "Mayhem" as:

PC 203. Every person who unlawfully and maliciously deprives a human
being of a member of his body, or disables, disfigures, or renders it
useless, or cuts or disables the tongue, or puts out an eye, or
slits the nose, ear, or lip, is guilty of mayhem.

You are full of it. Giving us a 20:20 hindsight scenario and whining on how the intruders were the victim. Your point of view disgusts me because you'd have us all give the benefit of the doubt and wait and it would cost many innocent lives at the hands of intruders, the majority of who know exactly what they are doing and it isn't innocent and harmless either.

They broke into property with unknown intent and capability: the ultimate truth you spout later doesn't matter!

A scared resident in THEIR home or property is facing an intruder whose motives, capabilities, and mindset is UNKNOWABLE to them and they have SPLIT SECOND to decide if they are a threat to their lives. Guess wrong and you are in the morgue.

Let me say that again for emphasis: Whose motives, capabilities, and mindset is UNKNOWABLE and no time to find out despite your after the fact story.

People should stay the heck out of other people's property uninvited or face safety measures.

Your right to life and freedom stops when you enter my property uninvited with unclear capabilities and motivations and I have to decide in a split second if you are a threat.

Don't like that hand dealt to you? Stay the F*CK out of my house or place of business when it is closed and don't enter without invitation or permission in the dark of night.

I might shoot or not shoot on my discretion, but that is MY CHOICE AND MY RIGHT TO LIFE AND LIBERTY and not yours to tell me after the fact.

Ok this is going to sound BS but we had a kid who was about 115pds wet that trained with us at are mma gym and he was a pure animal. One of the best fighters I ever trained with. One night 3 guys broke into his moms house were he was living. 2 were armed and the other was armed with a co2 pistol but looks real. They point the gun at him and ask if there was anybody else in the house and where was the money. he said no and give them what he had. Only when they wanted him to walk into the bathroom did he fight back. He ended KOing one of guy and RNC the other the death. The third dropped the fake gun and ran. My buddy still ended up in jail and $$$$ in lawyers. To this day, he doesnt train

There is also the story of the family from LI who door was kicked in by a small group of teenagers in the middle of the night. As the dad and older son walked into the living room one of the teens opens fire. The older son returns firer. Teens lun from the house and cops are called. Family not only tells there story but also has video from inside the house showing teens shooting first. Older son is arrested And they find one of the teens dead about a block away. Son was in jail for about a year before being cleared of any wrong doing.

I heard a news story abbot a month or so ago on KGO, a popular news-talk radio station in the SF Bay Area (Occupied Kalifornistan) we still can hear out here in real California. Police were called to a DV and the perp had a knife and rushed the officers obviously mentally ill but very capable of mortally wounding them. They correctly shot him to death.

Here is where it gets weird: the KGO reporter said in his on-air report, and I kid you not: "Why did'nt they just shoot the knife out of his hands"?
Seriously. ON live radio no less. What an idiot.

The ignorance of leftist progressive elitists never cease to amaze me.
All they know about firearms is from watching movies and they are living in fantasy land. they are dangerous, very very dangerous in their ignorance.

And why every thinking free man wanting to live in a state of liberty will at some point in their life wonder if continuing to live in Kailfornistan is really worth it.
the sane grounded ones will realize it is not worth the emasculation and make plans to leave.

It's so simple - post a sign that says "Work Boots for sale" - I guarantee those rioters don' t want anything to do with those

Perspective is an interesting thing. If you're in front of your store or on the roof you may be looked at as defending your property from looters. Now if you're inside, you're defending your life from a burglar...or gang of burglars.
