Not a very popular choice but i think u r missing a 22lr pistol. cheap plinking practice.

    Ruger 22/45 mk3
    Browning Buckmark

    Or a big bore revolver - 44m, 454, 500

Your 700 SPS is too heavy to be a good hunting rifle unless, you are just hunting from a blind which you don't have to hike a long way to get to.

This could be fun. And it's in your price range.

I'd vote for the 10/22 take down unless you already own a regular 10-22, and if so I'd go with the Mossberg 500/590.

That's a good one. The 2.5" is on roster and it's a very fun hand cannon. Can shoot 45 colt out of it too so you don't need to buy the $2 per rd Casull ammo if you don't want to.

He stated he owns a 10/22 takedown and 2 Moss 500s.

45lc is not considered nig bore. You have to ask yourself, does your wrist hurt from shooting it?

If u go with the Alaskan 454, it can also shoot 45lc.

Your Sig 556 Swat Patrol is more of a cross between an AR and a FAL since the patrol models have the FAL style short stroke piston.

Yes just for clarification the list in the op is not my wish list but rather my current collection.
My top 3 choices so far in no order of preference is
                              1) Garand
                              2) Alaskan in 454
                              3) ar15
