Correct range Etiquette?

When I've had this situation, I've re-positioned myself in my lane to avoid the hits & then put my open range bag where it would catch his flying brass. Seems to solve the problem for me.

Flying brass is one of the reasons I like going to the range.

I don't mind getting hit with brass.

I shoot through it to practice accuracy while being rained on.

The last time I went to the range I kept getting hit by brass from my left but it did not affect my shooting. It's one of those things you just get used to.

Oh my Lord, I can't believe you were being hit with brass at the range! What scum bag for not considering the soft skin person standing next to them.... its part of shooting, you can't expect any paying customer to cater to you when their trying to enjoy their time there.

Were you checking during your session how many of your brass hit people next to you? Or it didn't matter cuz you were working on your marksmanship?

I don't think it's unreasonable to ask the guy next to you to move a bit . Asking him to stop shooting while you shoot ( which is what taking turns is ) Would not be reasonable . Although I have asked for that very thing a few times all be it not for the same reason . When doing load work ups and shooting through the chrono . The muzzle blast from the shooter in the next lane often registers on my Chrono . 99% of the time I will shoot my string in between the sting of fire of the shooter next to me . There has been more then one occasion when the guy next to me was shooting pretty constantly with no real gaps that I could get a clean string in . On those rare occasions I have waited till I saw what I thought was a good time to ask the shooter to stop while I fired a 5 or 10 shot string through the chrono . Not once has the guy said no . I believe that had to do with respect for my fellow shooter , patients and asking at the right time .

I should add that I often spend all day at the range so I often have the time for patients . I do know guys that have a VERY busy life and can barely get time to shoot . When they do get time it's often only for an hour or so of actual shooting time . For these guys , asking them to stop shooting is not often going to result in a sure take your time kind of response .
