I have spent most of that last 25 years donating a LOT of money, walking precincts, stuffing envelopes, working phone banks, registering voters and NRA members, trying to undo the damage that man AND HIS COMPANY did to our 2nd Amendment rights. The years go by real fast when you are that busy...

As I said above, jettison the name of that gun grabbing, anti 2nd Amendment piece of crap and I will reconsider. Until then, for me, as long as the company wraps itself in his name, it gets to live with his legacy.

I never liked Ruger products for the most part anyway. I personally don't confuse over building with engineering and design prowess.

      Cheers!

while i certainly understand your contempt, what good would it do anyone in the current gun community to have such a well known firearms manufacturer like Ruger go belly up due to something that occurred in 1989, by a person who doesn't even exist any longer...im sure the anti's wouldn't mind one less well know gun manufacturer

its almost paramount now to cutting off our own noses to spite our face

present day Ruger doesn't support the ideals of Bill Ruger, in fact, they've pretty much done a complete turnaround concerning his beliefs...nobody liked what he did, but, that was HIS belief, and, apparently no longer shared by the CURRENT ownership of Ruger...what BR did was indeed damning, that is indisputable, but as someone already stated, he is long gone and his personal beliefs went with him

i own only one Ruger, my 3" stainless GP100...i bought it because of its reliability, and, its built like a tank

im more than willing to judge Ruger by their stance on gun issues TODAY, not by the past of one man, who did try and throw gun owners under the bus

so, while i understand where you're coming from Ronin, hopefully you can also see that the man, and his beliefs, are no longer a part of the Ruger philosophy, and, while we can't put the genie back in the bottle, try to realize that, that ship has sailed, a time gone by, no longer endorsed by current Ruger

Current ownership of Ruger is the general public. The shares are publicly traded.

Then you are missing out on owning some of the most reliable and best-value firearms out there.

My first firearm was a 10/22 bought in about 1980. Since then, I've added a mini 14, an sp101, a 22/45, a stainless single six. All bought before Ruger made his statements, all 100% reliable.

                Over engineered, mechanically simple, utilitarian.

You do realise that the full name is "Sturm, Ruger & Co." Strum died long ago but they still kept his name all these years... Do you really think they should abandon a brand name that is 66 years old?! Delusional.

[B]"Want to know why I hate Bill Ruger and will never own a Sturm Ruger product?

Bill Ruger helped the antis prohibit so-called "Assault Weapons" and is the primary architect of the "evil features" that were effectively banned in Brady-2 and the "Assault Weapons Ban".
When a company does something you don't like, you boycott their product. The purpose of this is to get them to change what they are doing that you object to. Same as you would ground your kid for not doing their homework. He doesn't like being grounded, so he starts doing his homework.

Carrying a grudge and continuing to boycott Ruger after old Bill is dead and gone, and the company has changed everything they were doing that you objected to, is counterproductive, don't you think? Like punishing your kid for changing his behavior, doing his homework every night and turning it in on time every morning? As a tactic to create change you've passed the point of diminishing returns and are now into negative territory.

Righteous anger can serve a purpose, but after the purpose is served, if the anger continues it is just a useless waste of energy and needless overhead. It's time to let it go.

my min14 cant eat anything and keeps running, my SR9 is my favorite carry gun and as far as i can remember has not jammed once. Ruger also made a purple sr22 and my wife loves purple, so any company that gets my wife to love shooting even more gets a thumbs up in my book....

Do all you anti-Ruger people feel the same way about S&W since they did a number on us also. Or Barnes for helping the non-lead ban. Etc Etc.

Pretty soon you will have no one to buy from if you think that way about every manufacture when they do something you do not like. The anti-gun crowd will love you.
