We already have the only reasonable Gun Control we need, It's called the Second Amendment and it's the government it controls.

          1) I would never buy a Ruger product
          2) I have the upmost repect for the durability and reliability of their revolvers
          3) I think their semi autos are low end of the market and feel/shoot like trucks.
          4) most importantly I can never get over the damage Bill Ruger did to the 2nd Amendment and the RTKBA, just to line his own pocket. A lot of calguns members / gun owners today were not in the game back when all this went down, so here it is and "never forget"!!!

"Want to know why I hate Bill Ruger and will never own a Sturm Ruger product?

Bill Ruger helped the antis prohibit so-called "Assault Weapons" and is the primary architect of the "evil features" that were effectively banned in Brady-2 and the "Assault Weapons Ban". "Evil" features selected not because they are truly evil or would have any effect on reducing crime, features selected simply because none of Ruger's guns had any of these features. He is the author of the so-call "high capacity" [read full capacity] magazine ban as well as several other loony anti-gun ideas. Yes friends, American Arms Manufacturer and Machine-Gun Designer Bill Ruger is the anti-gun gunnie who dreamed up the "10 round mag" idea.

He was filmed on television news with Tom Brokaw and said:

"No honest man needs more than 10 rounds in any gun." [Even though nearly all cops carry more than 10 rounds to defend their own lives -- as our hired servants.]

          and

"I never meant for simple civilians to have my 20 or 30 round mags or my folding stock."

          and then said

"I see nothing wrong with waiting periods."

This TV interview was used (with Bill Ruger's written permission) over and over again to rub our faces in the fact that:

"Even a gun manufacturer thinks gun control is good."

Need more proof? The following is an excerpt from the March 30, 1989 letter Bill Ruger sent to every member of Congress. It is in the Congressional Record and has been reprinted in several newspapers and magazines.

"The best way to address the firepower concern is therefore not to try to outlaw or license many millions of older and perfectly legitimate firearms (which would be a licensing effort of staggering proportions) but to prohibit the possession of high capacity magazines.

"By a simple, complete and unequivocal ban on large capacity magazines, all the difficulty of defining 'assault rifle' and 'semi-automatic rifles' is eliminated. The large capacity magazine itself, separate or attached to the firearm, becomes the prohibited item.

"A single amendment to Federal firearms laws could effectively implement these objectives."

          William B. Ruger
          Sturm, Ruger Firearms

[This letter was taken from the American Handgunner magazine, dated Sept 1992 page 18.]

Bill Ruger is the epitome of a hypocrite and is queen of the "Anti Whores". He is a greedy old bastard and an enemy of freedom loving Americans. Bill Ruger and Sturm Ruger Firearms products should be chastised and disdained."

I would have no qualms at buying a 10 year old Ruger. Got a half dozen or so in the safe. New ones seem to have a lot of quality problems if you check the Ruger forums. Their products have been greatly cheapened in recent years. 10-22 has plastic trigger group and painted receiver. Red Label shotgun was re-engineered to make it buildable at a competitive price. So many problems it was dropped after a year. It's no longer Bill Ruger's company the bean counters have taken over. It's about the bottom line and not happy customers - or employees.

                And since he's been dead...

Ruger makes AR's, factory magazines over 10 rounds, and Bill Ruger can't profit... since he's dead.

If you want to hold grudges against companies long after management changes, I hope you don't own anything made by Colt or S&W either.

                  haters gonna hate..

so just when was the last time you got any solid advice from a 'young' salesman in a gun store?

Ruger has weathered a market where several other companies have fallen, sold out, or shipped out..

                  Winchester? Marlin? H&R? Iver Johnson?

admittingly, I'm partial to older models, but at least they're still running the gauntlet..

I started out with nothing - and I still have most of it

Bill Ruger is long dead and the company is now better off, they're doing the best they ever have and are catering more to the tactical crowd. I absolutely loved shooting the SR.762 and the Hawkeye.

As for the revolvers I own a old model Blackhawk circa 1962 and its the toughest single action I own, same goes for my 2013 GP100. Also I have the P89 and SR9c and have yet to have a single issue with either of them and have plenty of rounds through them and haven't been the nicest to them.

So yeah my opinion on Ruger is pretty high, I plan to buy more.

                          let's see... I've shot: Mini-14, 10/22, SR9c, P89, GP100, and a .454 Casull Super Redhawk.

                          All stellar firearms.

I own numerous Rugers, happy with all of them.

Bill Ruger has been Dead for a long time now.

Ruger is a different company now, firmly supporting 2nd Amendment:

As long as the industry sees that people like you are willing to forgive and forget, and there is no economic price to pay, there can be no instutional accountability. A quick change of management and all is forgiven?? When the company dumps the name of that piece of crap, then I might reconsider. Until then, for me, a company that chooses to continue to use that name has to live with the legacy of the man its named after.

And I have moved on., quite happily,..to far far superior firearms products than those made by Ruger.
